Day 5 again

I’m coming up on day 5 again and I have not made it to 8 days yet. This will be the week! Can anyone recommend a non religious meeting? I’m happy for it to be spiritual but not religious at all. Is smart a religious process?
Thanks.

I am not sure where you are located. The only “religious” meeting that I am aware of is Celebrate Recovery, which is described as “Christ-centered”. AA refers to a higher power (God) but is not religious, per se.

Refuge and Dharma Recovery is spiritual and focuses on Buddhist principles to aid in recovery from all types of addiction and suffering.

SMART is more science and behavior based.

I like a mix of SMART and Refuge. I really found my people in the Refuge group. It might just be time to sample all the offerings and see what clicks for you.

Thanks for your response. I’m not keen on aa as it is about God. I’ll look into the refuge and dharma. Smart sounds good too.

Refuge, Dharma and SMART all have an online presence, as well.

AA is not about God. Perhaps having an open mind is more important than believing or not believing in a " god" figure.
It’s about spiritual growth which refers to our internal spirit.
But whatever you choose you have to put the work in.

There’s a really good podcast called AA Beyond Belief which is for agnostic/atheist/free thinkers. I swear by it and listen to it all the time.

SMART recovery is also non religious and there are secular AA meetings. Secular AA has its own website.

I feel a bit judged by your comment. I’m happy AA is there for you and anyone who feels comfortable and safe with it. I’m was simply asking if anyone had suggestions for a program that doesn’t have any focus on God at all. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, please don’t be condescending in your response though.

Looks like there are smart and refuge meetings in my area. Now to find one that works with my time, evening meetings are tricky as I need to be there to put my little ones to bed. Thanks for the links.

Thanks will check this out.

Congrats on day 5, keep it up, day by day. Like Johnny Cash said, “Half a mile a day”.

Sorry if you feel this way. That’s actually upset me because I am only trying to help you.
I don’t actually do AA because what I am doing for myself is working,
I have a big book, that I read regularly and have gone to meetings. I know it’s there should I need it in the future.
All I was trying to say was that one should have an open mind to try anything, and everything to see what fits. Not shut something down just because.
As your title says " day 5 again".
I wish you well in your journey.

Edit. For your information. I don’t believe in God. But I have a higher power.
