Why is this forum still allowing glorification of killing equipment ?
Shoulders are not allowed, guns are. Weird.
Without getting too political ā I donāt care for guns personally (especially assault rifles), but I donāt believe thereās any rule against photos with them. Touchy subject, sure - but allowed.
sigh it has/had nothing to do with shoulders. Please, PLEASE do not start this up all over again.
For myself, I have very specific reactions to firearmsā¦hearing them, seeing them. I am a survivor of gun violence ā¦my 1st husband tried to kill me, killed himself afterā¦with a gunshot to his face, instead of mineā¦no one ever needs to bear witness to such horror. So I have very specific triggers (no pun intended) around firearms. I donāt appreciate anyone making light of my being triggered by firearms. It was a huge issue to work through and still all these years later, can be retraumatizingā¦ugh 4th of July celebratory gunshots coming up. I am healed ish, but carry this with me. Soā¦for myselfā¦a trigger warning thread is an appropriate place for such photos.
That said, this is a multi cultural worldwide forum and the laws/mores/cultural differences around weapons should be taken into account IMHO. Just my take/thoughts. Respect and understanding around the issue of gun violence is certainly appreciated by me.
I understood the connection.
What I was saying is that the issue you are drawing a parallel to, independent of the issue at hand (guns), had nothing to do with shoulders. It was and is about shirts vs no shirts, and weāve already discussed it ad nauseum. So Iāll leave it at that.
Thatās an awfully broad generalization about Americans, and pretty unfair of you.
Not what I said or implied. Nor did I vocalize a glorification of firearms. As a matter of fact, I would estimate that you and I have very similar views on guns. Iām choosing to not get into that because it is a heavily politicized issue in this country, and Iām not going to even think about touching that line here.
My point was that there is no rule against posting a photo with one. If there were, I would be in full support of enforcing that rule. If you want to suggest a rule be put in place, Iād have no issue with that, either.
I donāt believe anyone expressed this? You are allowed to express yourself.
Yes, but no. The shoulders thing is a trigger for pmo addicts. The gun is just something that triggers discomfort.
Someone flagged your photo as off topic. The topic is firearms, so off topic was the ruling. You can and do still express yourself here in this thread.
Not so. For me, guns trigger more than ādiscomfortāā¦they trigger me back to being suicidal, back to being traumatized by firearms, back to thinking about a very painful period of my life which reminds me maybe the world would be better without me here.
Thank you Jenna, I appreciate that. This is bringing up a lot right now.
Thatās straight up offensive.
I could say to you, when are you Dutch people going to stop having a feast about an old white guy with black servants?
When are you Dutch going to actually punish criminals?
When are you Dutch going to prohibit red light districts?
And so on.
Maybe you are against Sinterklaas, maybe you are for harder punishments, maybe you are against red light districts. a whole nation doesnāt share the same opinions.
Youāre right, Iām mistaken.
And Iām sorry you had to go through that
Wait till I start brandishing my weapon on pictures
I was not the one who ruled on your flag. If you have an issue with the ruling on your flag, please PM @moderators, and we will discuss it.
And a reminder to all about the Mute thread feature.
I ruled on your flag. A topic was made for people to express their weapons (Firearms, Bow and Arrows, nunchucks). Thereās nothing against the rules about this. So, thatās that.
I am all for not having pictures with guns or weapons of any kind. They are a trigger for a lot of people and there is no need to include them in a picture.
I am a gun owner, but I donāt need to post pictures of them, I donāt enjoy seeing pictures of people carrying weapons. Sure it may be someoneās hobby, but there are a lot of negative, harmful thoughts and events tied to weapons that come to my mind when I see them. I canāt imagine how hard it must be for someone who has been a victim of one of these weapons.
Iām all for leaving weapons off of a sobriety site.
Just my opinion.
I sympathize with you on this. Itās being discussed. Any issues that anyone here has we all take very seriously. Iāll get back to you personally when we reach something on this. I wonāt say resolution but like I said, itās being worked out.
