So relatable, there’s just so much time to do nice things right now, keep everything tidy and then there’s still time left

That looks beautiful! And I love the door underneath the stairwell, it’s such a great use of space

Incredible!

Totally agree, that’s my order too. Absolutely beautiful work @Kev2!

#3 is my fav. Beautiful work @Kev2

My wife and 5yo son called me today while I am at work to tell me that my son wants to “make a project in the garage with tools" with me this weekend. Awesome! I don’t know what to make, though. Obviously I will ask him for his ideas, but I’d love it if anyone on here could throw out some relatively easy suggestions he could get involved with. I am a jackknife carpenter at best and I basically only have some plywood, assorted 2x4s, a chop saw, circular saw, sawzall, some drills, and assorted spray paints. Not looking to spend much money if possible. Thoughts?

That’s great that he wants to build with dad. Making memories is another gift of sobriety.

How about a simple birdhouse? You don’t want to do something too difficult or time consuming and lose his interest. There are some good videos on YouTube.

Can’t wait to see what others suggest and what you end up doing.

Even simpler than a birdhouse is a bat house. And probably cooler, in the mind of a 5 year old.

This is a great idea. I actually have three bat houses I bought/assembled years ago that I never hung. Maybe I’ll secretly disassemble them and he and his sister can help me put them back together, lol. I feel a little dishonest with that approach, but they would love it and it would be simple enough to hold their attention for a first project

And they can paint them whatever colors you have - the bats won’t care!

Welp this girl is going to replace a $30 igniter on a 2018 lg oven. Repair guy wanted $680. New would be north of $1000. Chatting up the nice repair guy to walk me thru the diagram and build my confidence to replace a $30 part on an oven, and ensure that i wont blow up $150. The plan is next sunday to attempt. Repair guy said 30min to replace lol

Will update with my success

Wow! $680 is a lot. You can do it @Cjp! I have confidence in you. Keep us posted.

I did a lot of car repairs in sobriety that I never imagined doing. YouTube became my best friend.

I did it! I fricken repaired my oven! 1.5hrs and a trip to menards I replaced the igniter and now own my first drill. The tech said i could do it in 30min shesh. I wanted to call my handy mom when i encoutered a stripped screw but i had too much to prove. I had already built up that this was my first real challenge of homeownership solo. I fricken did it but dont want to do it again. Next time im paying for the repair lol saved $500 and earned pride

So stinkin proud of you! Your perseverance paid off. Leavin it to the professionals next time is what I do too. We proved we could do it once, no need to do it again.
Now every time that oven is used, you can say it’ works because of you
