Hey guys I thought I would hop on here and share some knowledge from experience .

The worst Day of my life actually was a blessing (in the long run )
September 17th 2019 I decided to go off opioates I was getting from a doctor then ended up for about a year getting blues ( percs) from this “ guy “ I thought was a decent human being … no one who gives u drugs is, let’s be real !!
Anyways … lengthy but this is important . I had the idea in my head to quit 3 years + or more of narcotic use , for months I tried … I would test myself to see if I could “ween off “ I deep down was numbing my divorce I never healed from and being a single mother was hard.
I decided to call a suboxen clinic they told me to make sure I’m in 24 or more hours of withdrawls before coming in … ugh sounded miserable .
So I got my last 20 pills fml - lots of $$ to get me by 4 days till appt than I was done. I mean I needed to be a mom, run my salon … I couldn’t withdrawl!!

I was being my own version of weak … I knew I could do it but was scared . Long story short no one knew my addiction later that day I dumped ALL 20 PILLS DOWN TOILET that I just bought!!!
I was donnnnneee… now the hard part, how will I survive till Monday ?? I had to tell the people close to me I needed help immediately and I was going to be very sick .
Later that night my anxiety was at an all time high. I was in car with my bf ( who has never taken a pill or drug mind you ) and I blurted out EVERYTHING !!! crying… a mess I didn’t know what to do but knew I needed help .
We cried and talked in the car and didn’t of course end up at dinner fans he said “ ok we will fix this “ as much as I don’t want to I will call my friend who’s been on them for 4 years ( and can’t get off from heroin use. We will get u enough till Monday’s appt “
As much as he didn’t agree we did . We got 4 strips and i put 1/2 under tongue … 6 hours prior was my last pill … I emphasized to him what the clinic said … without his knowledge to what I ended up experiencing he told me I’d be fine .
Needless to say I took it laid down ( my son was with his dad ) and 20 mins later I woke up having a seizure … I seized for a good 5 mins then I stared vomiting and having what I describe as acid being injected into skin or fire ants on me . I couldn’t control my body … heart was BEATING out of me … I was hallucinating and thought I was GOING TO die .
Rush to ER my boyfriend threw me in car I was kicking window punching him … I don’t remember much but it was like a dream .
Got there they admitted me right away .
Bp was 160/100
I’m a 130 on 5,4 girl mind u . Healthy and fit .
Soooo I didn’t know what was going on but I was TRIPPING AND SO SICK … they treated me terrible … gave me nothing but fluids and BP meds . Was I mad ? Fuck yes … am I now … fuck no! Why? … because they made it so miserable and left me uncomfortable to the point I never wanted to return to that god forsaken bed where I died .

2 days in the er they moved me to detox .
2 days there sent me home and now I’m on 103 days clean.
Long story short after they got my pee test back in confirmed I had oxy ( from doc ) in my system but also unknown to me HEROIN and fentanyl in the system … the “percs” I thought was getting from a “ friend “ sure as shit could have killed me .

I’m so lucky .
Suboxen when taken too soon will through u into the worst fucking nightmare you can’t even imagine going through. One so bad the thought of ever using again makes me so sick .
If you decide to take subs be smart . Your recovery is your choice and there’s no judgment just don’t take soon like I did !!
Be smart, stay clean and pray to the gods . I sure did and today I LLOVE LIFE. God bless y’all

Fortunately they are different here in the UK, they are just bupenorphrine-- subutex or espranor. This is a prime example of why you should take a doctor’s advise and not that of a friend. Did they really treat you that badly at the hospital or was the best that they were able to do was make you comfortable and ensure that you didn’t die?

It’s the buprenorphine itself that causes the withdrawals @anon13078412, the naloxone is pretty much inert unless injected. The brain senses a sudden drop from 100% opioid stimulation with full opioids to 40% with the partial opioid agonist buprenorphine (which binds tighter to the opioid receptor than the full opioids like heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, whatever). And it is this sudden 60% drop in opioid receptor stimulation that can cause intense withdrawal symptoms if buprenorphine is taken too soon after a full opioid.
TL;DR: would get withdrawals with subutex or suboxone, the naloxone component isnt the cause when taken by mouth.

Are you sure because I’ve used heroin many times in the past mere hours after taking bupenorphrine and never had any ill effects. Granted the most bupenorphrine I had taken was 4mg but that’s the exact same size dose that the op took --half an 8mg strip

I’m as sure as I can be about anything in life :slight_smile: about the biochemistry at least. Individual reactions to buprenorphine or any drug are based on the person’s history with substance use, recent use, and unique brain chemistry, so I am not surprised that you and the OP have has different reactions

I don’t know why it’s never had that effect on me then, I know if other people in the UK that have done the same. That’s why I’ve always assumed that the Naloxone. Strange. :smirk:
Do you have any idea why it hasn’t done that to me?, it’s not as though my body can be any different. I’m certainly not special, not in that way anyway :joy::joy:

@anon13078412 yess … they put an iv in my arm without any bag and left me for 1 hour before my bf raised hell…
they don’t want you to be miserable but we did it to ourselves, soo there job is to ensure yes 1,we don’t die but 2, we aren’t doped up on benzos or whatever enough to want to come back possibly overdosing you know ?

I’ve Been sick as a dog taken it too early hugging the toilet alday I’d say leave it 72/hours to be deffo sure when ya rattling you will know.not when you feel it coming ) but when you are actually ill .xxwish you all the best stay connected and take it easy if u can

No clue, people can just be really different in their responses! And of course sometimes people think that they are taking one thing they got from a friend or bought on the streets and it’s actually something else, which makes everything even more confusing when treating addiction!

I’ve just looked it up and it’s likely due to the side of the dose. There is talk of something they call the Bernese method. Current drug guidelines advise against taking bupenorphrine whilst on an opiate as it may precipitate withdrawals. So in some it can and in some people or may not. Makes sense :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

You don’t have to wake 72 hours, this last time I got clean I saw the doctor and she said that she could prescribe it to be that day as I hadn’t used yet that day. It’s wise to wait longer if your switching from methadone I think. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes if you swap from methadone to espranor you definitely need to wait I took espranor too early and went into shock it was a nightmare I thought i was gonna die … I was allergic to methadone so I got put on espranor. I now know the meaning of clucking ! X
