I was more offended by the run-on sentences and the grammar then the rant.
it’s “than” not “then”. just sayin, we all make mistakes, we all have flaws, we all get upset. idk about you all but i was a wreck my first month and i was mad at everything. so i get that this dude might be a bit irritated. i hope the best for you OP the forum will be here if you ever decide to return.
I kind of thought that. Was torn between then and than. What I get for being a jerk.
Hey now @Charlesfreck & @Jim27. I’ve noticed on here and especially with my buddy who is from Scotland that some folks from the UK actually spell words based off their pronunciation with their accent. Sometimes I can barely understand what this guy is saying, but if I read it outloud I sort of sound Scottish…
I’m Swedish, two words in English that always makes me think extra is then and than.
Then is time related
Than is comparison
The Other words are To and too.
But I do think we have a lot more grammar training in school than native English countries. Almost all our English classes is about grammar and glossary here.
The word every American misspells, no idea why, is loser. Half of Americans spell it looser.
Not sure which one is more offensive, loser or looser…
I can’t get swear and sware right for my life. My brother swears/swares that one of them isn’t even a word.
I might be wrong, but I don’t think “sware” is a word
That makes me think of bear and bare…wow this could be a whole new thread lol
mind in the gutter
I usually understand what everyone says most of the time. A week ago, Google Translate came in handy for a Dutch speaking member ^.^
I have much trouble with the use of of and off
Who and whom. Still don’t get it.
The word albeit looks like it shouldn’t exist.
Surely it’s all be it?
I struggled to read that and I’m English
I struggle to spell necessary, professional and cabinet
Often when I cannot spell something I pick a different word
hyperbole
w.t.f
Glad I never used that in a sentence when I imagined it to sound like “hyper bole”
I’ve been writing
Gastronomy - is the study of food and culture, with a particular focus on gourmet cuisine
When’s I’ve actually been meaning
Gastrostomy - is a surgical procedure used to insert a tube, often referred to as a “G-tube”, through the abdomen and into the stomach
This is on official NHS documents. My line manager picked it up the other day
