First day sober from alcohol!

I’ll take any advice. I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily struggling but I know tomorrow will be bad. Thank you!

Welcome to the show!

One thing that helped me was journaling, especially the first couple of weeks. It helped to get in touch with my emotions as well as intentions, and goals. Early on, I would read what I wrote over the first few days, that gave me vision to how far I’ve come, and in turn, motivation to a little further.

Here’s a good thread to look over:

Your 1 tip for sobriety from people with long term sobriety

Hang out, read and share your journey!

Welcome, @Sbr98 !! It’s great that you’re here, trying to build a better life for yourself. For the first little while, I worked really hard to distract myself when urges came on. I made a deal with myself that if I was thinking about drinking, I had to come on here and read for 10 minutes before I did anything about it. It always worked and the urge always passed.

It’s hard, but I promise you it is 100% worth the effort. We’re all rooting for you!

HI welcome. This site has really helped me i come here daily sometimes i post sometimes i just scroll. You can do this one day at a time. I can say that what helped me is after work i would go a different way home not to pass my favorite store or one of as i had a few i would alternate so i wouldn’t go to the same one everyday. Also having a nice variety of drinks at home, fizzy drunks, soy chocolate milk and shit ton of teas. You got this !

Welcome :hugs:
This group is a great support, talk to people, ask questions, we will understand!

I am not sober that long, but for me it is taking it day by day. You wake up in the morning and say to yourself that today you are sober.

Keeping yourself busy, I am cleaning like a crazy raccoon.

Good food, self care and thinking how your life is better without hangovers.
