First "Real World" Sobriety Challenge -- Tonight

Well, in T-3 hours, I’ll be in my first environment where everything isn’t controlled and alcohol will be available.

We’re going to our friends little girl’s 4th birthday party.

We’ve had several birthday parties here before, and they always have beer + liquor out for the grownups.

I’m feeling pretty good about it - and tomorrow will be TWO WEEKS - so I feel mentally prepared.

But still.

Can’t help but have a little nervous tick at the back of my brain.

Oo I can understand why that would be a tough one! But the fact that you’re feeling that way and are so aware of it, surely that proves to you that you have not become complacent, therefore you won’t be tripped up.

I hope you enjoy the party. Best of luck to you!
And congratulations on 2 weeks!

Stay strong, you got this!

Man - feeling great.

It’s official. I didn’t drink at the party!

There was alcohol everywhere, but I had 0 urge to drink. (I just carries around a cup of water.)

One cool thing is one of my drinking buddies noticed I had a cup of water and asked me “Are you not drinking?”

I passed it off as a weight thing and that I was off the sauce indefinetly. Kinda hinted at it needed to be black and white because once I started drinking I couldn’t stop and that was way too many calories.

He looked at me and said “Good for you man” in a serious tone and gave me a fist bump.

Didn’t expect it but thought it was pretty cool.

@Jdubs, good for you man! I’ve had similar experiences/reactions with people. Granted I’ve been somewhat of a hermit since quitting 34 days ago. Anyone I’ve told has been very supportive.

@Jdubs Nice!! I always felt like a huge weight had lifted after getting through similar events. Definitely a huge achievement. On to the next!
