Maybe just the brie and arugula, with homemade tomato bisque. That sounds good but like a lot of work, right now.
That does sound tasty. But I can relate. My motivation to cook has been low recently. Pain is a bitch, too. But I’ve got a corned beef for tomorrow that will get cooked, come hell or high water.
I don’t eat them often but when I do it’s mayo and butter all the way. Mayo for the tuna salad butter for the bread.
@RosaCanDo
@Salty
I read where instead of using butter on your bread you can spread Mayo on it for a nice evenly spreadable grilled cheese. I tried it once. It wasn’t bad.
Bread looks great Salty. I think I have to whip up a batch of dough today and let it sit. Then stick it in my ceramic Dutch oven later in the week for another home made Boule.
Mum used to take burger buns and put either egg salad or tuna salad on them and stick under broiler with cheese, or in toaster oven. Open face. That was our tuna melt I suppose
Making dog food. I might also be liquefying it just before feeding, because we may have some swallowing issues. Ground turkey and rice cooked in chicken stock. Lupe is ready already. Yum!
We use to cook chicken and noodles for our guys when we had too. The rice was too sticky.
We got our Dog Buddy to eat Hawaiian Bread to get him over a hump when he wasn’t eating. Don’t remember how we came to try that
Is Chucho doing any steroid regime at all?
We are having success with the stinkiest foods, and have relied on tuna mixed in a lot. The noodles are a good idea, too. I also heard applesauce. We are most concerned with getting the meds in him and some nutrition.
He’s not on steroids, but I’m going to call the vet to check in on Monday regarding the issues with eating. Last convo with the vet was he’s on all the meds we can throw at him except a cough suppressant, which we only want to save for last. He is begging to go out just to eat snow, which makes us think it soothes his throat? Maybe.
Thanks for the ideas!
Out vet told us a colleague of hers said
“Every old dog deserves to try the benefits of steroids.”
It got us over a hump for almost 2 years with Buddy.
Buddy had liver issues. Anyway it doesn’t hurt to ask.
You cook for the dog and your husband can cook for you.
Pumpkin? My dogs love canned pumpkin.
Ah, yes we have done pumpkin, too, with mixed results. That reminds me we have a half a can in the fridge, thanks.
Good lord, I’ve walked into a graduate level seminar class on the tuna melt…!
It reminds me of taxonomy - except you guys offer fewer pics!
As a celiac, I regularly dream of what gluten-ful delights I would eat for my “last supper”. I’m putting Salty’s fresh bread on the menu
Eat well, Chucho! The dog girl likes her rice and ground beef too.
Have you tried sardines? We’d buy them packed in water as a treat and for his meds. Bonus is the omega 3’s potentially help inflammation in old doggy joints
Today being New Years Eve and being that it’s still so cold I made a full 10 quart pot of chili
We may be eating it for a few days.
Not exactly sure how I ended up with so much, but I did. Haha
Also random question.
Do any of you put potatoes in your chili?
He’s obsessed with sardines and we use those, too. I just usually only have the mustard or spicy ones and will have to remember to buy the plain ones. Good news tonight - dinner was a success! The soft blended mix went over well. Phew!
Meat and cheese I’m always in!
Interesting idea. I haven’t done that but I’ve eaten chili on a baked potato lots! Looks good.
Tonight’s spread. Hubby’s favorite lil smokies in bbq sauce in the mini crock pot. Some strange but tasty deviled ham and cream cheese with pickle roll ups I conjured up, too. I’m ready!
