Foodies Unite #3 (trigger warning food) (Part 1)

Amen to that! Teeth can be brushed  Blueberry is healthy, itā€™s superfood.

They grow wild in our forests and youā€™re allowed to pick them even in private owned woods, for free. Berry picking is still a big deal although you can get them in frozen foods section. My parentsā€™ generation went to pick them because it was necessary. It was an important part of the diet in the winter. Not just blueberries. There are many other berries you can collect.

Oh. My. Goodness. This is the taste of summer Iā€™ve been craving! Toasted fresh sweet corn (picked this morning!), serranos, black beans, red bell pepper, cilantro, red onion, salt and pepper and loads of lime juice. No need for oil or too many other seasonings. Toasting (basically cooking the cut off kernels on the stovetop quickly) the corn caramelizes the starches giving it such a sweet and roasted flavor. Everything is fresh and lovely. Iā€™ll serve it with crumbled queso fresco or grated cotija on top.

I did that pasta that you bake tomatoes with feta, but I opted to use herbed goats cheese with my fresh market tomatoes. A bit tangy lol. But it was fun to squish up the tomatoes :tomato:

Are you tired of cooking because you just experienced high end foods and now youā€™re back to your own creations? I think thereā€™s a lot of value in what you cook. Hold your head high!

I think itā€™s just age and Iā€™m tired of it. Restaurant business all my life. Maybe if I had a clean up crew. Besides the dogs . Back aches. Maybe just a bum week. My Dad always cooked. Always. Then one day maybe in his early 70ā€™s he said. Iā€™m done. He never cooked again. He did the same thing with drinking in his 60ā€™s. He just quit self medicating after all those years. I hope I inherited some of that from him.
I want fresh corn and your youthful appreciation for fresh veggies.
Sushi tonight :sushi: :slightly_smiling_face:

It looks so incredibly cozy, Mumintrollen (Moonin in English?) and blueberry pie. Iā€™m coming. And I donā€™t even dare to think about the price of that coffee mug :joy:

Iā€™m always tired of cooking. Thatā€™s why weā€™re doing themed weeks now. Itā€™s always fun to try and do something totally different and getting s little creative. Going out weā€™re trying to go to different places. Or at least try different things when we usually end up at McDonaldā€™s :joy: itā€™s a rare treat here. But an easy order, they are almost the only fastfood place that can make whatever you order (besides Icecream) gluten and dairy free.

Oh it was a nice afternoon! I went swimming too :hugs: Yes, Moomin in English, not that any English speaker ever has any idea about what they are :joy: That pink mug is a standard and in production so it costs about 13 euros. The light blue in the background is now a collectorā€™s item but not that pricy. Maybe around 30 euros in second hand condition. These are not my cups but I do have both of those

Welcome! I need to practise making a gluten and dairy free pie :see_no_evil::face_with_hand_over_mouth::relaxed:

Would you like to ship me in for month to cook for you guys? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::wink: I can bring weird Finnish stuff with me. Pink porridge. 100% rye bread. Rice pies. Etc. Really rustic. Not to mention, one girl who tasted my lasagna started crying bc it was so good. Facts!

If nothing else, youā€™ll be begging to be in charge of your kitchen again, LOL :face_with_hand_over_mouth::joy::joy::joy:

Very tempting.
Just bring the blueberries.
And we love lasagna.
Wifey doesnā€™t like weird though. She likes pasta and meat potatoes. But mostly pasta.
If you cook and clean. Iā€™ll bump you up to first class.

Sure as long as my cleaning duties include only the kitchen. Iā€™m not washing windows and no frigging way doing any ironing. I hate that shit. I donā€™t have enough meds to deal with ironing :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
