Sunday brunch (yesterday) - kept the celebration going with biscuits and sausage gravy made with spicy sausage, plus sausage patties and fried egg on the side. We took a nap afterward!

Back to American food.

That’s a strawberry fizz.
Veal Piccata.
it was really good. But the pic doesn’t look good to me.

And a great cheesecake.

I got to get back on that no sugar thing soon. Technically I’m still on London time.

It’s as ā€œcountryā€ style American cooking as it gets. Here’s a basic recipe. I always put hot sauce in mine, too (in my case Cholula or Frank’s Red Hot). Not healthy in the slightest!

Thank you! I’ll try it out when I fancy something exotic for a change :joy:

Thanks much appreciate the family loved it! It’s cool when people like what you cook.

It’s tasty stuff! I cook mine a bit differently than Ms. Ree does on the video - usually I brown the sausage, remove it from the pan with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels, then make a roux with the drippings left in the pan, add the milk and whisk to remove clumps and then add the sausage back. Maybe I’ll try her method next time as it removes an extra step. When I have chives I like to snip them over the top as a garnish, too.

It sounds nice. In the supermarket near me they have a USA cuisine aisle but I’ve not had a good look at what’s there.
When I lived in MD i don’t remember having much home cooked food, we seemed to eat out an awful lot.

I don’t know why this makes me chuckle  Sounds funny to me! I’d be interested to know what all is stocked there.

Ha ha! American aisle.
Edit haha excuse me. USA Cuisine Aisle
I’m guessing Fritos and macaroni and cheese!
Not that there’s anything wrong with either.
In my early days as a vegetarian, as far as restaurants went, my go to was macaroni and cheese with fresh pico de gallo ( tomatoes, onion, jalapeƱo, cilantro).
When I think of Scotland I think of scones. When I was there I ate scones and oatmeal.

Honestly, I live very close to the school that inspired Hogwarts, and this morning the school pipe band was practicing so I’m eating my porridge to the sound of the pipes, literally!

Wow! I can just imagine…could be lovely or could be like listening to my neighbor’s middle schooler practicing the trumpet  Not very easy on the ears!

They play really well and the sound floats on the breeze. But I wouldn’t appreciate an individual piper practicing in the house next door. That would suck lol

Haha yes! I’m glad it’s pleasant to listen to for you then. Sounds magical.

I found it really interesting, that potatos should be more healthy than rice or noodles. At least the have less carbohydrates and a lot of water.
