Friday Thread #2

Where did you go during your holidays? Only Berlin or also some other places?

Do you play table top or video games?

There must be something that can be done about it right? Does he know? If not he should be told however painful that may be. So something can be done.

I think the only thing you can really do is make your sister aware that his personal hygiene is unacceptable and that until he is capable of maintaining cleanliness himself then it is her and her husband’s parental responsibility. We’re not born knowing how to do these things for ourselves and it’s not kind to let someone fester like that. Maybe showering is too difficult for him but there should be a way of managing his hygiene to an acceptable level. Was he stinky when he arrived at the air bnb?

It was just 5 days. And Berlin is a big city. I did bike to KZ Sachenhausen and to Sansouci in Potsdam. And posted quite a lot of pics in the Traveling Sober thread if you’re interested.

Ah, OK. Thanks for mentioning the travel thread, much appreciated!:pray:t3:

That’s hard. To be honest I had a stinky colleague once. I bluntly told him that I cannot work like this and asked him to change whatever is needed to show into office not smelling. He was heavily drinking and smoking (yes, in these days you were allowed to smoke at the office) so the reek was still gross but bearable when he came showered and in fresh cloths.
IMHO honesty and clear arguments are a good way to tackle such personal issues. And tackle them in the moment, not ages later. I feel sorry for your unpleasant experience.

Thank you @erntedank @Mno and @Deelzebub. Something will be said today. I slept 45 minutes last night and my stomach was in knots the whole time. He does have problems with hygiene and my sister’s house always has a slight funk but this is strong.

We played a game where I sat three chairs away and could not concentrate because I was just so focused on this smell. I will meet this challenge with a simple request for a shower with soap and water and a change of clothes. At least something will be said. What makes me so sad is that he lives like this.

He won’t be invited back next year so I just have one more day. I should not be counting down the days to the end of my vacation. I appreciate you guys. :disappointed::mending_heart::face_exhaling:

I prefer video games, but I do some table top as well. My husband is an avid gamer in both respects, so I’m pulled into more table top games than I would be if left to my own devices.

Are you a gamer?

Yeah, I like and play both kinds.:grinning:

What are some of your favorites (for both)? Are you a PC or console gamer?

At the moment we are playing some really hard cooperative board games from Pegasus like Robinson Crusoe and Aeon’s End.

On the PC I play also some cooperative games like Nobody Saves The World, Mechwarrior Mercenaries 5 and the Far Cry series. But I also play console ports like God of War and The Last Of Us 1 (if its eventually runs as expected).

I don’t play alone at the moment, because I don’t have enough time for that.

Yeah, she’s sorta old style country/western with some modern influences. Very mellow and chill.

I’ve met her a few times and get a selfie with her each time, I showed her all the previous ones, some day, she’ll remember me. Lol

Nice!

I have put her already on my playlist for Mondays work.:+1:t2:

Very cool. I haven’t played those board games, but I know of them from my husband. I like games such as 7 Wonders or Settlers of Catan; and I’m also a fan of Dominion and the wide variety of games played with standard card decks.

Last of Us 1 was a good game! Naughty Dog makes some good stuff.

@HoofHearted looks like you had a great time! That’s awesome.

Happy sober Friday folks!

What are you doing today?

It is already mid afternoon here and I happily present my perfect friday in spring: It’s grey but not raining, it’s cool but not chill. The perfect day to run errands and do chores in the morning, cook a delicious meal for lunch, make fire in the stove, grab tea, books & blankie and cuddle comfy on the couch for the rest of the day.

Happy Friday! My husband and I barely slept a wink last night but we are both wired to the hilt. We put an offer in on a house (first time homebuyers here :raising_hand_woman:t2:) and we will hear back yea or nay by noon today. He has a corporate community service project this morning cleaning up a park so he’ll keep busy and I had better figure out how to keep busy, too. It will have to be mindless work because my mind is elsewhere entirely. We are trying to manage our excitement but it’s hard! I have dishes to put away, laundry, will walk the dog, tidy up, and probably wander around my house pretending to be busy. That’s all I got right now

Hope you all have a good weekend! Safe and sober!

Friday morning here. Trying to work but can’t focus. Too much stress in my life right now. But I’m glad it’s almost the weekend. It’s supposed to clear up so I’ll be able to go walk this afternoon. Some time in nature will help.
