Looks like it’s going to take a while… I average less than one episode per day these days.
Back in the day, we had to watch them one episode a week, reruns in the summer. So watch an episode a day. Binge when you can. You’ll be caught up in a year or so.
I remember those day @Yoda-Stevie. When you watch an episode, and then wait the whole week. Especially if it was a 2 parter, with a cliff hanger!!
I’m glad I just didn’t watch TV growing up. I had the option (2 channels over the antenna), but aside from the occasional Saturday morning cartoon (roadrunner FOREVER), I was just more interested in other things. If I’m in a place where there’s actual TV on though (not Netflix), I’m in trouble. I haven’t developed defense mechanisms for TV psychology… I can get stuck watching junk I hate for hours!
Even more so, if the 2-parter crossed seasons. Having to wait the whole summer to see what happens.
When I was stationed in Okinawa, I never had cable. My option was Armed Forces Television, which was one channel operated by the military. They ran a lot of civilian programs, but you had to wait for it to be done with reruns, before the networks released it to the military. It was like a 2 year wait for me to see season 4 of the Xfiles. I left the states half way through season 3.
My favorite way to watch ST is chronologically. Now that I can, anyway.
Yes, that way is awesome, but nothing near the awesomeness of seeing you back here!
We will see how long I stick around for. I continue to try to keep off looking at social media constantly. But, it’s been like 8 months since I was on, so I figured I would saunter a bit. See what’s cookin.
Well thanks for breezing in and classing up the joint.
It’s not strictly scifi, but Captain Marvel and Endgame came out. Nice capstones if you’re into the MCU.
Also, my friend is on about ST Discovery yesterday. They’re offering CBS all access through Amazon Prime now ($). Thinking about getting on it to catch up.
I, for one, thought the last season of the Orville was surprisingly great.
It’s still an extra prime service fee like HBO is, on top of prime. Only perk is you can watch it anywhere you watch your prime stuff.
Continuing the discussion from Mind Blowing Random Thoughts:
@DungeonMaster’s fact, and the mention of CBS and VHS, reminds me of why it’s unlikely DS9 and Voyager are unlikely to see a remastering to HD.
As it turns out, remastering ST:TNG cost an insane amount of money due to how the original material was put together for SD broadcast at the time. The entire series (178x44 minute episodes!) was, for all intents and purposes, re-edited from scratch.
That combined with the advent of Netflix cutting into HD disc sales just as it was released proved a hard enough blow that DS9 and Voyager are not expected to enjoy the same treatment.
This is not a movie it’s a documentary I’m currentliy watching on Neflix called “Bob Lazar - Area 51& flying saucers”. This may not be for everyone but I am highly interested in such stuff
I found it very interesting
Okay, with you and @Englishd suggesting it, it’s in my queue.
Also thank you because I just saw Stranger Things 3 comes out tomorrow. There goes my long weekend.
Stoked for ST3!
Started watching “Another Life” on Netflix, the trailer looked fantastic
Update: why the fu** do some of them take off their masks on an alien planet? Why should someone do that? Guess what happened? Have you seen Alien? Blerch!!!
Sidenote: never eat while watching a SciFi series where aliens may be involved
I’d like to revive this thread
Currently watching MARS on Netflix. Looks really good, a mix of scifi series and documentary
I watched it a while back. Really enjoyed it. Waiting for the 2nd season which has already aired on whatever network produces the show.
