So I’ve managed to avoid grabbing a bag or having a line but now works finished and I’m home, usually this time on a Friday I’m down a few pints and a few bags no idea what to do with my self
Great job! Resisting the craving and the routine is always the hardest… and then there’s the, ‘now what?!’ That will pass! But until it does it’s very important to KEEP YOURSELF BUSY. Don’t allow your brain to get bored and try to do the exact opposite of what you would be doing in order to avoid triggers.
Whatever your doing, try to do it deliberately and with a purpose. Even if it’s taking out the trash, do it as if it’s the first time and think ‘how can I do it better next time’? It sounds stupid, but it really forces you to climb back into a body that has been on autopilot for so long.
Have a happy and soberly inspiring Friday!
@Naturehippy thanks for the advice I’m sat here now thinking the “what now” routine has been drilled into from my time in the army so I’m going to replace the routine with something not sure what yet tho
Army huh?! Working out?
I’ve been thinking of my sobriety as a long distance marathon that requires mental and physical training.
Challenge yourself mentally or physically.
Drop and give up 20 push-ups lol
Yea 5 years with the royal engineers, I’m looking at gym memberships now, I’ve got some none drug taking friends on the way round so should be OK, I lost count on the press ups lol
