Here I be again with my latest update. I have come further than ever in over a decade of trying to quit. Today I rarely even think about smoking and cravings are more tiny mental reminders to never lose my vigilance. My copd is barely noticeable anymore because I’m not aggravating it hourly. I haven’t needed my inhaler for months. I no longer wake up gasping for air or choking on mucus. Now, I’m 72 now and of course my health will be declining but my Lord, my patience and serenity has done nothing but grown. I used to smoke to “relieve my stress” but looking back I realize that smoking, the fear of running out of smokes and the energy spent going to get more was the direct cause of most of my stress. I have saved well over $2000 so far, not smoked 5,515 cigarettes and saved almost 20 days worth of time I used to spend with a smoke in my hand. If you are just starting and it’s rough for you be aware that if you tough it out better days are ahead of you. Blessed be!

Wow congratulations and thank you so much for sharing your story! I’m almost 2 weeks without a cigarette and I still want one every day but I just somehow keep not getting one. Reading this inspired me to keep going! I know I’ll be proud and grateful if I do. :growing_heart:

Hey there Sassy. You have done great work getting to where you are now your body is thanking you for it.

I get this too. Maybe a fleeting moment once a year perhaps, I dont know.
It used to be when someone walked past me in the street and Id get the wiff of smoke I’d think by that smells good  it is absolutely laughable now because no is does not smell good its fucking disgusting and I do pity people that still smoke.
I am so pleased for you.

Congrats on your two weeks! Much like recovery from drugs or alcohol I believe that your two weeks is much more of a miracle than my nine months. You are in the trenches right now fighting for your life and I am cheering you on. Your will power has become a brick wall that can protect you. You had a reason that you quit. When those desires attack you concentrate on your quit reason rather than the nasty craving. That lessens its power and builds your strength. You got this!!

I don’t know what’s been going on, but lately I just want to buy a pack of cigarettes and smoke. My vaping is an offshoot of my former cigarette habit that quickly spiraled into full blown chain-smoking addiction. Been 7 days no vaping or smoking, but I just want a cigarette so bad.

Maybe it’s the holidays, but it’s getting so hard! :exploding_head:

I’m almost 4 days in with no nicotine (vape) and it is roooooough! My lack of interest in things is extreme, like because I don’t have my ecig to hit after everything I do I just don’t want to do anything :downcast_face_with_sweat: looking forward to this feeling being a distant memory! Good luck!

Great job on 4 days @Alexh666 oh yeah i remember had to vape before or after every action taking. Youre doing the work, breaking the habit, and building new neuropathways. Its uncomfortable but worth it. Keep fighting!

1 week is amazing. It really takes some time to get past the oral fixation and the urges.

Smoking/ vaping become such a part of your daily life that it’s hard to escape that routine…your mind says “break time –smoke”, angry - smoke, happy - smoke, long drive - smoke…lol…you get it. It takes time to break this relationship.
Flex them muscles and keep pushing forward :flexed_biceps:t4: :flexed_biceps:t4:. You are doing great.

Same goes for you @Alexh666
