My last trip to the gym before my surgery is tomorrow. Gonna be like 4-6 weeks out, 12 weeks before I can get back in full-on. Doesn’t sound too long but I’m gonna hate it
However, I’m looking forward to what I’ll be physically capable of post-surgery. The issue impacts muscle function and growth, especially in the legs. No telling how much will come back but I’ll work like hell for the best results I can get. Movement is the medicine and I’m all about it.
Anyhow. I’m proud that although I haven’t been able to get much stronger, I’ve been able to maintain my fitness despite the pain/discomfort with my back and the related neurological issues.
I’m excited for you! I hope this surgery opens up all the possibilities you can dream of.
Also- I can’t believe it’s tomorrow. Feels like it’s been coming for forever
Wish you the best on your surgery, I hope you are able to gain everything back amd then some. Facing the same myself with knee surgery. Physical therapy gets 6 weeks of me to.determine. recovery long road
Sending you healing and soothing thoughts for your surgery and recovery my friend. I’m sure you’ll keep us posted, yes? 4-6 weeks is going to be a piece of cake for you to bounce back from, and then things will be different because you’ll be able to incorporate diff exc, routines, things will shift and that’ll be exciting and before you know it, you can lift heavier again. I’m rooting for you and so glad you’re getting this done!! Sending a (strong, haha) hug
Thanks all! @Runningfree I worded it in a clumsy way, the surg isn’t tomorrow (today now), my last time in the gym is. The actual slice n dice is Tuesday
Start of maintenance week 4/4. I’ve fluctuated +/- 1 lb throughout the month from my cut weight. Currently at +0.6 lb. Hitting a chest/tri day before some stats work this afternoon. Stay consistent, friends.
Finally woke up and broke the depressed work out hiatus with a solid 25 min run and gonna do a push/pull combo tonight with a full variety (body resistance, dumbbells and some other fun things)
Feels good to be back on it and getting back to work
My first ever attempt at a clean bulk begins tomorrow morning. Maintenance month turned out to be a slight gain of a pound and a half of muscle mass and a whole point and a half of body fat percentage. I’m not too pleased about that but because accountability matters I should have been more disciplined in my diet habits.
This was also a post breakfast scan when the last one was first thing in the morning so I’m trying to be ok with it lol.
Overall still down 23 lbs and about 7% body fat or so from Jan 1st.
The bulk will go on for 10 weeks and I’ll scan again at that point. I’m shooting for a weight of 205 lbs and a sub 17% body fat so my next cut can drop me below 15%. At least I shouldn’t be hungry for the next few months haha.
Did a good 30 min HIIT this morning either in spite of or to spite myself. Not sure but I did feel like a person who wanted to burn this mf down prior to and now I am an okay/tolerable level of frustrated that I can manage with a shower and breathing (and coffee).
In other news, taking a long walk this afternoon instead of studying as I might burst otherwise lol. I’m no good at bookwork as soon as the summer sun hits and I have too much energy to handle sitting all day atm
200 virtual workouts done with camp gladiator. I had 162 with them before we moved and since they don’t have in person I canceled. Then Covid and virtual happened. So I rejoined. They wouldn’t let me kept my count from before (insert pouting face)
My goal for this upcoming month is 4 workouts a week.
Week 9 of cycle 1, working towards my meet in September.
Today was HIIT, DL, and Bench. I don’t selfie…
It was nice when I got to the DL platform and people had put their weights away. Though doing it helps my grip strength, some days I just wanna get in there, load the bar, and rip it.
I’m not short by any means, but there is a squat rack that has the UNADJUSTABLE pegs at just the wrong spot. When I go to re-rack the bar, I have to go on my tiptoes. There was another person using the rack I normally use and so I went with the awkward rack. Lol. Fine now, but this time in 3 mos it’ll be kinda hard!
Also funny is my daughter making fun of my “squat bar rash” across my rhomboids and posterior delts Good a.m. all around. I love lifting < 3
