Working on a healthy lifestyle. Day 2 in a row of exercise! Proud of that in itself.
Iā€™m doing this cardio-acceleration technique. 1 set of weights and then 1 min of fast-paced paced cardio, then repeat. I want to lose weight and honestly I really enjoy this method so far. Instead of me resting btwn sets, I do cardio. I like it! I actually break a sweat and have a wicked workout!
Healthy breakfast high protein oatmeal with a tablespoon of peanut butter and 2 eggs. Not a bad start to my day

So, did NOT check in yesterday but did wake up 6am and do 40 mins on my elliptical then did 20 mins push/ pull and body resistance + flexibility thrown in

And right now Iā€™m doing todayā€™s morning run! Did the thing again and hauled myself out of bed to get it

Iā€™ll check in for the evening portion tonight (for real this time lol)

3 days of exercise in a row completed! Feels great! The 1st 2 days I did weights. But this morning I was sooo sore. I literally can not walk properly or extend my arms fully without my muslces getting sore and uncomfortable. So i didnt want to keep pushing my muscles since they were already feeling this way. So did some good stretching at the gym and some cardio. I just wanted to get my butt up and out of bed and to the gym to keep this healthy habit going!

Benched today. I went heavier than I have in quite a while, was hoping to work up to 275x3 but didnā€™t feel like i had enough in the tank. Hit up some incline db work and tricep work too. Good lift all in all.

Did it again lol

But. I did a solid 15 mins of abs/body resistance & flexibility last night. Had to take a rest night from dumbbells bc sore. Also got 15k steps in yesterday though on top of the cardio

Woke up a smidge late this morning after almost not doing the thing, but Iā€™m doing my 4th morning elliptical run in a row right now! Yuss
I had to remember my theme right now is doing the stuff even if Iā€™m not motivated and here I am feeling better already

I am gonna darn well check in tonight after my dumbbells etc lol

This is really good :+1:

My experience in fitnessā€¦

Eventually itā€™s no longer a matter of motivation, but obligation. I go every day because itā€™s just what I do. I am out of the gym for 3mos minimum due to a surgery about 3 weeks ago. Itā€™s driving me nuts to stay out of the gym.

Early morning workouts are especially tough to get acclimated to, but keep doing it and it just becomes what ya do.

Being shelved from the gym sucks badā€¦ heal up youā€™ll be back and better then ever before you know it my friend.

Can you use bands and those type of things? If you can Iā€™ll send you some from here; we have a ton that arenā€™t being used anymore.

Thanks for offering! I have a few, but Iā€™m not supposed to lift mote than 5lbs (!!) and even the stretching iā€™m allowed to do for the first 6 weeks is basically 0

Thanks. After regressing a bit yesterday, it feels better today. So progressing in the right direction. Usually I can differentiate between good and bad pain, but itā€™s tough with this! Although Iā€™ve been told that if I do anything actually bad to the fusion or rods/screws, Iā€™ll definitely be very aware of it lol.

First f/u was supposed to be 6 weeks post-op (3 weeks from now), at which point we could discuss a possible return to light weight training. Itā€™ll be 8 weeks though (5 weeks from now) since the schedule was booked up. Weā€™ll review current x-rays and see where Iā€™m at. Part of me wants to not even consider it until 12 weeks. Apparently it takes a full year for the fused bone to fully harden, but nobody has said itā€™ll be that long away from the gym/exercise. Somewhere from 3-6mos and you know Iā€™m gunning for that 3, just have to make sure I take it slow on return and not be stubborn about it. Havenā€™t asked yet, but logic tells me it will be smart to be back lifting for a while before I consider a return to running.

Right now itā€™s just all heat, ice, and constantly moving between sitting, standing, lying down, and walking. Lots of odd sensations all over the torso due to the nerve disruptions. Spots of numbness, spots of highly sensitive skin, spots of tingles, etc. All normal Iā€™m told and will go away. Just very bizarre to experience.

I cant imagine how that must feel, Iā€™m sure itā€™s a weird sensation. Youā€™re younger so you will heal up fast, i still have lingering issues from my procedure and that was nothing compared to yours. Listen to your body and you wonā€™t go wrong, itā€™ll tell you, it knows best. I know youā€™ll recover great, itā€™s just how youā€™re built :slightly_smiling_face:

Swing shiftā€¦ i canā€™t sleep on midnights, lucky to get 4 hours. I always fall short in the gym on midnights but itā€™s better than skipping it all together.

Try and keep your protein intake up . Muscle memory is real, youā€™ll be back in no time.

Def tinkered with my diet to get into maintain mode.

Thatā€™s whats keeping me from going nuts over it. Early pandemic when the gym was closed for 4 months, only took me about 3 weeks to get back up to speed and looking/feeling like Iā€™m used to. This is obviously a bit different but the same principle applies.
