I have been sober almost 18 months and I have an NA through that I tried to get involved with and made it my home group. It went well for a little while and then I was giving somebody a ride to meetings and two words WHEN SHE ASKED and idk what happened. I know her boyfriend got out of jail which to be clear there was no sexual involvement and I was not really even attracted to her. I thought I was just doing service work. Well all of a sudden with me doing that turned into accusations of stalking. I never drove past her house not one time without her asking me to. And then the girls from the meeting started hating me looked up my past and found a news article where I got charged with assault. Particles sounded way worse than what it was but I did push this person which was wrong of me and I own that. Will now play started hating me blocked me making up lies about me. I heard they even tried to have me banned from the meeting. I am a very shy person and normally just sit in the meeting and do not talk especially now that they suggested to me to shut up because nobody here cares about you. I would love to just put it in the past and find another meeting but this is really hurtful and affecting my sobriety. I live in a halfway house so most of the guys go to that meeting. I have asked for him and nobody will try to communicate or find out what’s going on at all and block me when I bring it up. What can I do??? Please help. There are days where my only motivation not to drink is thinking if I did drink that would make them happy and I don’t want to do that. I use that not to drink.
Sorry your having a bad experience with that group. Are you in a big city? You could try another group. Or try aa. Drugs are a huge part of my story, but i feel more at home in AA.
I live in a hard to get to meeting place and Ive been enjoying zoom meetings a lot. I like to listen while i work around the house or while I do art. i dont like the meeting i click on a new one.
This place is awesome 24/7 easy access and good recovery.
I hope you find a group that is less drama.
Im am truly sorry you are going through this bs. This is the last thing you need while trying to maintain your soberity. The past is the past. We all have done some wrong but thats none of there buisness what happened. Sounds like high school drama to me. Keep your head up you are. Doing great things and staying clean. Reach out if you ever need to bend my ear I support you. Good luck you got this
Huge congrats on 18 months sobriety! That is huge!!
Sometimes conflicts can‘t be solved, although we do our best. In that case it’s best to walk away IMHO. I am with @JasonFisher, you can look out for online meetings until you have found a new group.
Are there individual people in your group with whom you have a trusting relationship? In Yes, can you talk to them privately about how you feel?
Not drinking or using is the best defense ! This too shall pass.
Some people just aren’t good humans and thrive in chaos, and drama, regardless of their sobriety. These don’t sound like the people for you. Something better will come along, use this as a teaching moment, and turn a negative into a positive. You know your truth.
Some days because it would make them happy I don’t
How are things going??
I’m so sorry you are dealing with so much unnecessary bs because you were trying to just lend a hand. As far as looking up your past, that’s just dumb. We all have a past. Many of us have been in the papers. At the end of the day that’s not who we are. I personally don’t do well with AA/NA so I’m not too familiar with structure. Maybe do zoom meetings until you find a new home that is more productive for your sobriety and comfort. We are always here 24/7/365 and all are recovering from something. This community was where I started before I started RD meetings (suggested here). I hope you find some peace and hang on to that 18 months and keep pushing ![]()

Hi TN, I’m having a hard time reading your post. What exactly happened?
Most of us act out in other addictions and sexually when alcohol is removed. Don’t let anybody judge you. They are not perfect either. I recommend getting a really good sponsor and working the steps. If you pray before writing and write every day, God will help you.
