Heading into my first sober weekend

I’m with you @ChrisP! I was anxious about going into the weekend but I just found this wonderful app and forum. Trying to keep my mind busy with other tasks.

Weekends are the hardest for me too, I get really lonely. But have to keep reminding myself that if I keep sitting with that feeling vs escaping to alcohol and numbing it out, it will get better. Also, need to stop romanticizing drinking and remind myself that it’s pretty sad to sit and drink in an apartment all weekend. It’s not any fun at all.

That’s wonderful!! Yay for a sober Friday and no hangover morning running kids around! I get that cave in feeling sometimes too, it might sound weird but pickles are my favorite food and when the feeling comes on I go to the fridge and impulse eat pickles instead of alcohol! It really helps since one impulsive moment leads to a night of binge drinking and a very unproductive following day with all kinds of regretful emotions. Pickles are my impulse control!

How’s it going @ChrisP? after such a productive day, I hope you are still feeling good, and feeling strong. I’ve had a trying day with my teenager, so I suspect you’re probably doing better than me…

I’m guilty of that too @Patti1 romanticising the whole experience.
I must have a goldfish memory

p.s I don’t feel so lonely when I’m on here

Hey @Zara sorry for your rough kid time… I know that all too well! My girl is away for the day and I pick her up around dinner time. I’m ok right now since I wouldn’t normally be drinking now with knowing I’ve got to pick her up. I think nights are harder for me. I’ve watched a movie on Netflix then cleaned up a bunch. Just going on noon here.

Ugh, how do you stop when you genuinely enjoy it?

Really need a lot of help right now

Hey @Patti1 I’m here if you’d like to chat

Just finished my dinner. After the rows with my son I was struggling to calm down and relax so I decided to take my rage out on making the evening meal (I would often start on the beers just before and while cooking the meal…) As it turns out I cooked one of the finest Spag Bol I have cooked in months, if not years!! Wouldn’t say I feel more relaxed at this point, but I am feeling real proud of my cooking. And I’ll remember it, and the feeling in the morning.

So that’s my small victory for today.

You’ll need to see if there is any more good movies for you to watch this evening.
Stay strong girl! We’re almost there! :muscle:

Way to go! Now if only you could deliver some of that cooking my way!

My girl is home now… NOW the Saturday evening/night challenge begins… no place to be but home. This would be the time to drink.

When I beat this night I’ll hit my week 1 of sobriety…(I started that sentence with ‘If’ but changed it to ‘When’)

I just made banana pudding with my 6 year old. I may gain 20 lbs. But I’ll be sober. Normally I wouldn’t do this with her because I was too busy drinking wine. Or trying to sneak around the house drinking wine! The nights are tough. But the mornings waking up guilt free are great. Hope everyone is making it this weekend :purple_heart:

The caleries from drinking and eating sweets even out. I think I lost some weight after one week even though I have been hitting the sweets a little more than I like. :lollipop:

I was also wondering what impact the lack of empty calories would be. I’ll check in a day or so.

Bonus for sure
