Help please just can’t stop crying hubby has gone to tell his mum about me and my being an alcoholic I told him he could as I know he needs to talk to someone but now I wish I hadn’t, I am terrified that she will tell him he needs to break up with me, she is very religious and virtually tee total, i am so upset and scared and I feel sick, I sent him a text earlier and put I love you on the end and he didn’t say it back ![]()
Deep breath. You will get through this. Run some cold water in the sink, splash your face and let it run over your wrists - it will cool you down. I wish I could say or do more…but please know this is not the end. You are much stronger than you think!!
Thank you, I just want a chance to change and I don’t think he is willing to give me it!
Isn’t it crazy how emotions can cause such strong visceral reactions? Sometimes just closing my eyes and focusing on breathing helps me. I hope everything goes well for you - I don’t know I’d you’re spiritual or not, but I’ll say a prayer for you.
If she’s very religious she won’t be judging you, instead it will help her to understand you and maybe even lend a hand in helping in some way. Through change we all find strength. We’re here for ya & be there for yourself. Try a meeting this morning or a walk in nature (if your weather is better then mine).
I hope he can try to see your side of things and you need his support, not him to just give up.
Give him his time and space. It is so hard but he is going through this with you. Don’t do anything stupid but get out and do something to take your mind off of things.
Is the relationship healthy? If so, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. Just be positive and work through the issues.
If he is creating a larger issue by talking to his mom, why is he doing that, knowing it isn’t the best way of dealing with the issues? Be strong, don’t let relationships dictate who you are and your happiness. This is a toxic flaw of many unhealthy relationships.
I just got out of a relationship, although it felt like I got ran over by an 18 wheeler, I pulled myself together. Even more, I realized how terrible the relationship was for both of us. I’m a much better person because of it…
Like I said, if it’s a healthy relationship, everything should be fine. Hang tuff!
Thanks everyone, I am feeling a bit better now ![]()
Hope it all turns out well
I’m sure it will.. things are never usually as bad as you imagine … Stay strong on the drink front ![]()
You are trying to make a better life for you and your hubby. You are on a new path that maybe scary for him aswell. You can handle this, your sober self will see you through x
You can’t control what he says or how she responds. What’s important is that you’re sticking with it. Easy to say and harder to do but try to focus on the good you are achieving now and not what you can’t control. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to follow that advice.
