Hi, I’m Jess and I am sober curious. I quit drinking on 01/01/2025. I always had it in me to stop when I wanted but also knew that alcohol was something I needed to completely change my relationship with. It’s been a hell of a year, quite possibly the worst year of all time that I could have picked to quit drinking, but I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge. I have to say that even though it’s been so hard at times, there are more and more moments when I am grateful beyond belief for my sobriety. Even for the struggle. For the clarity. To everyone taking this one day at a time, you’re not alone and I think you’re incredibly brave for facing life’s ups and downs without a buffer.
Welcome @Jshiggins1624

Welcome Jess!
Wow almost a year already without alcohol! So proud of you!
I understand what you mean when you say you picked a hard year to stop drinking
but also, you have shown yourself how strong you are! And that’s something to be so proud of!
I’m glad you’re here

Welcome to this wonderful community Jess
Hi Jess! Congratulations on your successful journey so far!
I’m only 12 days sober so your story is very encouraging to me. Thank you very much for being here and sharing your story!
12 days is a big deal!!! Congrats
The beginning was the hardest part- I found that it did get easier over time as my resolve got stronger. Cheering you on- you’ve got this.
Hi Jess from Scotland this old guy wishes you well on your journey best decision i ever made wish you well
Hi Ray, thank you so much! It’s great to hear from people who have been on this journey successfully for the long run. I hope to visit Scotland one day
I live in New Hampshire, USA.
My sobriety has changed my life. I spent many years drinking and wish I would have quit sooner. I no longer take my life for granted. 2 years sober and still working on myself. Sobriety is hard but so worth the journey!
2 years!!! That’s amazing! I look forward to the 1-year mark and am motivated to aim for 2 years as well.
Thank you!! ![]()
ya know, i’m not sure i’ve ever heard someone say
“man, this was the best year to stop using _____.” lol we like to party when stuff is going good
usually its after jail, hospitals, psych wards, NDE, you name it
we can be bull-headed and it usually takes something real sh*tty to get us to stop
that waas the case with me and most of the people i know anyway
so grateful you are here with us… we are stronger together and doing the hard things by staying sober - love that we have this new sober life to live ODAAT ![]()
