Hey @Sadman. First get ride of all the substances. Then find support.

This forum is a great supportive community but some people may need rehab, sober living, intensive out patient, Alcoholics Anonymous…

The resources are out there. You have to make the choice to try and break the habits and try something new and uncomfortable

I definitely need rehab but cant afford it. I came to this chat room to figure out how do so e people do it.

Why do you want sobriety?

Read and post often

Posting during cravings helped me out a lot.
Take the advice you need and leave the rest. Everyone is different.

You only need to do day 1 one time but it’s the most important day I believe

here’s what happened for me:

  • got arrested, caught with dope
  • went to jail 6 months, got some clean time
  • decided to just try being clean when i was released
  • stayed away from people and places and things that could lead to me using, period. end of story.
  • kept busy, went to NA meetings, didn’t use
  • working the 12 steps

You could call around the rehabs in your area and ask for help, sometimes they will scholarship people (free treatment).

go to a detox facility or hospital (free) and get clean, while you’re there ask the staff to help you find somewhere somehow to get into treatment.

those are my suggestions and don’t give up, you’ll get there my friend just keep trying.

How have u been doing since u posted last?
When I quit drugs, I:

  • Got rid of the drugs, the paraphernalia, and got rid of numbers of anyone who uses or deals drugs. Stopped all contact.
  • Reach out for support. Theres online NA meetings (thru the Intherooms app) and in person NA meetings. This forum is great also.
  • Find activities that u can do to keep ur mind busy
  • Start reading recovery literature, daily reflections, self help books
  • Journalling can be helpful
  • Take care of self (HALT - Hungry, angry, lonely, tired). These are common things thay can trigger the urge to use. Make sure u take care of these when they pop up
  • Come on here before u pick up so that we can help u thru it

We must put the same effort/if not more effort into recovery, as we did when we we were wanting to get high. Recovery is a daily task. So its important to stay connected and stay recovery focused each day.
