I am coming up 3 days tomorrow, doesn’t seem much but we take it day by day!

Its not easy, sobriety doesnt just fix everything, life still gets lifey but its much better to deal with life with a clear head and make better decisions, being able to wake up every day and know your a decent person with a bit of integrity rather than the shame you’d feel after a drink/drugging session is golden! Youve got the greatest motivation there is after yourself…your child. In the early days i used to picture my daughters face on the front of the bottle of booze to stop myself buying it, aswell as coming on here of course x

Yes your totally right, and I totally understand what your saying, my kids deserve to see me at my best not rough and hungover not wanting to do anything! They deserve the world I brought them into! And I will do that! I’m looking forward to my journey with you all helping me along the way, I’m really grateful there is people willing to be positive like yourself, most people where I’m from are just like wow 3 days you must be proud that’s embarrassing celebrating 3 days! But they just don’t get it, there still in there routine or sniffing/drinking so it’s like they don’t want to see you succeed xx

Its a massive achievement! I think people in their own addictions dont want to see people get sober and succeed because they dont want to look at themselves in the same way, it makes them uncomfortable. Youl get alot of that, ive lost loads of friends because i dont drink mainly because basically thats all our relationships were about, thats ok though, the people i do have around me now are those who genuinley care and are proud of me, i wish you well on your journey, rooting for you

Welcome Matty.

I see you joined only hours ago and already your profile has a “read time” of over an hour.

I love it. Stick around and keep reading. There is an abundance of wisdom here. But also dont beat yourself up and disappear if you dont get it the first time.. it took me ages but now i have some good sober time primarily because of engaging here. A tool i never had before. remember this app and things like it wouldn’t even exist if it were easy to get sober to begin with..

You got this!

Thanks a lot, I will definitely be sticking around, like I say this isn’t my first time trying to get sober I’ve tried many times, I’ve been using and drinking since the age of 17 with many failed attempts and going sober I’m now 33, just hoping I can reach the year mark this time and carry it on for the rest! I know it’s not be easy but any achievement day by day will spur me on to keep going! Thankyou for your comment xx

Awesome mate. Yeah im in my 30’s too. Not my first time trying, wanting and wishing. But this app has really educated me by sticking around, contributing, engaging and just really reading and taking stuff in. And ofcourse action! Actively working on my sobriety. Daily checkins, listening to sobriety podcasts, journalling to name a few. Spent enough years wanting to be sober and make changes and talking about it but not really ever working for it till now.
