He wants to stop drinking also but he also wants to stop using drugs all at once but he has been reading online that if you stop everything like that in one shot you could get sick & he is worry he would go to the hospital but has no health insurance. Since he read online that its best to get medical help if you are trying to stop drugs & alcohol

Probably not great advice but I detoxed in jail. I turned myself in for my warrant and sat my time instead of paying. When I went in i was detoxibg from heroin and xanax. They give yo meds to keep from seizing and monitor your vitals. Other women where detoxibg from alcohol and were mwdixated and monitored as well. They wean you off the medication they use to treat you too. Again, this isn’t advice, but it is what I did. I immediately got other help after I was released.
I think he needs to ask himself if he can afford to quit using, or afford to keep using…
I’m no doctor, but it definitely sounds like he needs medical detox.
