Is It Possible?

Am I the only person out here that is trying this without any support from there significant other?

Nope @marty
The only support I’m getting or using would be this forum and the great people on it.

Is it cause you don’t have a significant other or because that significant other does not support you?

None of my friends or family members know about my struggle and I don’t have a significant other, so all my support comes from my doctor and counselor (and hopefully a therapy group soon) and this place.

I have a wife of 24 years. She doesn’t understand "I’m powerless over alcohol " & really wants me to be able to drink socially with her.

Your right, I appreciate the advice & YES my son is my rock & I know I’ve helped him also. We did the mountain climbing together & our next venture is going to be jumping out of an airplane! Thanks everyone

Hey @Marty Mar, no you’re not the only one. She needs to understand addiction is a disease. Maybe find some good videos or literature for her to read to help her better understand. I did that with a couple people and it helped a lot. People who haven’t suffered through it tend to not really understand. Just know that neither of you have to be social drinkers to have a good time.
