Is it suppose to get harder?

Hey my name is Mel. I have been clean for 164 days today… my fiance and i gave up using on the same day however he went into rehab and i stayed outside. Over the past 6 months i have faced many temptations and difficult times but i have stayed strong! But some days i have a really hard time staying strong! I feel like it wasnt this hard at the start, but then again i dont remember all that well back to that so it might have been! Im getting married in April next year so i have so many reasons to stay clean but feeling abit overwelmbed

Hi Mel, 164 days that’s amazing! And amazing that you have stayed so strong on the outside whilst your partner is in rehab. Keep doing what you’re doing, it’s never easy and there will always be temptations but keep it up, do you go to support groups or meetings at all? They’re great for gaining some momentum whenyou’re feeling overwhelmed and you’re on your own

Wow @Melissa_Van_den_Heev i think u doing great. Congratulation With staying sober and With u being married soon :clap: stay focused and stay strong, yes i hope u go to meetings/ sponsor .you are on the right track . Hope your fiance are doing well too . Stay motivated . Staying sober is a test in every means .

Mel. Seriously AWESOME WORK. I was sober about 2yrs (before falling off the wagon) and rmember a lot of justifying why I could slip. It took about 1.5 before hitting rock bottom (and another 6 months) to get started AGAIN.

So all I said just really means MAINTAIN the good stuff your doing! Sobriety / staying clean may or may not get easier but sounds like u have loads of reasons to stay

Heygiys thank you so much foe responding.I am going to meetings yes and that has been helping me so much!! I am so proud of myself for where i am but i am so scared to relapse and fear it might happen. Im just keeping strong and whatever is not in my control im not worrying about but what i can control is not putting myself in a situation where i will be to tempted!

Thank you all so much!

I think its litle healthy to be a litle some scared and think what if … that means u dont want it to happen. You doing a Great job focus on what u gaining by staying sober/ clean . No ones knows about to morrow, live for to day girl. Focus on one day at the time. Or one hour at the time. You are in the power of choosing how u want to be and how u will fullfill your life. I bet you are Proud of your fiance , he is Proud of you as well. In this is a true power .keep it up @@Melissa_Van_den_Heev

Good job Mel! I am at 2.5 years sober, and I can tell you that it does get easier…and what I mean by easier is that you become more confident that u can overcome cravings, each time you get past one. I’m glad you have a support group to help you remember you’re not alone…If you can find something to help redirect your mindset during a craving, that will help as well…I use the gym as my “crutch.” Sometimes I will just sit there for a couple hours, bc I know nothing bad can happen to me in there…when I get a craving, any change in environment usually helps…also, you can find good guided meditations on YouTube to help you relax, and to help you better understand why you are feeling like using…keep up the good work, God bless
