I am so scared, my doctor has booked me in for an ultrasound scan next Friday because of abnormal liver results from my blood test and I am so scared! I’m panicking it’s going to be cirrosis or something. A fatty liver I can deal with as I have quit alcohol since my blood test results. But now I’m panicking. I have never been to hospital before.

I know it’s scary, but try not to work yourself up too much.l by imagining the worst. Right now, you don’t know. After the test, you will have more information and know what next steps to take. Sending positive vibes.

There’s no point in getting upset about this man because there isn’t really anything you can do about it right now. Pray for help and for peace with it. Turn it over and let that burden go - it isn’t for you to carry. You just focus on your recovery and putting recovery first in your life. Get to a meeting dude. Talk, share, be positive and know that whatever happens it’ll be okay either way.

Hey Matt, im sorry ur going thru this right now. I can completely understand why ur worried. Ive had a few tests done myself and i remember constantly thinking about it and worrying over what the results would be. The waiting game is _rough_.

But try ur best to stay in the moment, to stay in today. Focusing on what u have to do the here n now. Worrying can literally make us sick. Ur doing everything u can right now by staying sober. Thats the best thing u could give urself. Focus on one day at a time with this test, just like we focus on one day at a time in sobriety 🙂 we will all be here with u during this hard time.

The body has an incredible capacity to heal itself. Maybe try saying the serenity prayer. It helps me in stressful situations. Praying for health 🙏 for you.

No future tripping friend. You’re sober now. Let’s keep it that way. Success at the doctor’s. I work at a detox clinic and it keeps amazing me how much abuse the human body can take.

It can be really scary getting a letter like this, but, they are dealing with it by getting you the scan and we will be with you in your pocket if you need us.

The Liver is so amazing at regeneration, so even if it currently is a bit off, it will most likely recover if you stay sober and look after yourself.

Try and stay focused on today and keep making good choices. 🫂

Try and view it as they’re looking after you rather than looking for something wrong.
You’re on the right path being sober it won’t do any harm instead it’ll help heal your body, but these hiccups will make you stronger in the long run. Because you’ll look back and be proud of how you got through it and dealt with it head on.

You’re going to be okay 🫂

You can dig into quit lit to educate yourself about how addiction and recovery work. Building up knowledge is better than future tripping and being worried. The damage of the past is already done. You are sober now. Go on healing, keep recovering.

I can relate to this so much. Last June I was admitted to the hospital with severe alcohol withdrawal. When they ran blood test they saw that my liver enzymes were all out of wack. I was horrified. After getting out of the hospital I entered an outpatient rehab facility. After 2 weeks of no alcohol they redid my bloodwork and my liver was already back to normal. I was so happy with the good news. Unfortunately I relapsed and was back in the hospital this week with another case of severe withdrawals. The CT scan showed my liver was shrinking due to fatty liver damage. Again I was horrified but I’m not losing hope. I’m currently 4 days sober and determined to heal my liver. Here’s to taking it one day at a time and treating our bodies the way they deserve to be treated 🙏🏼

Thank you so much for your response 😊 I just want to part with something that’s helped me. I know it’s basic but just think of Alcohol as poison, imagine it’s like drinking cyanide. It has absolutely 0 benefits and so many negatives. Today marks 2 weeks and I have no intention on drinking again. I know it’s early days but I’m going through alot in my personal life and if I can beat the cravings now I can keep doing it. But like you said one day at a time. We got this!
