so I am now 69 days sober of alcohol. The last week I am noticing that if i stay up past 10 pm I get this horrible, skin crawling irritability inside that is only relieved if i go to sleep. Trouble is i then am waking up like and hour sometimes two hours before i have to get up. Any suggestions to rid myself of this and still be able to stay awake without wanting to go crazy? I just recently have been sooooooooo emotional to everything and at first it was cool now its startong to get annoying.
I wonder if it really just has more to do with sleep quality or something as simple has hydration? If you don’t get quality sleep, it’s going to make you irritable. Dehydration can lead to poor sleep quality as well so it can be a viscous cycle. It is just a guess though. Personally, when I don’t drink, it’s tough to stay up late unless I get jacked up on coffee. When I drink, I can stay up all hours because the body is running off sugar.
Restless, irritable and discontent. I know the feeling. Emotional hangover can come from lots of things. For me it’s about grief or grieving. My guess is you’ve lost something or someone and your feelings hurt. Hurt is at the core of my situations, circumstances and stuff. Stuff hurts when I don’t get stuff I want or lose stuff I have. I try to arrange everything to suit me and when it goes wrong I feel hurt and angry. So, I gave it up to my higher power and let him have the stuff I can’t control. I hope you can identify what’s bothering you @Cece .
I meditate when im in bed , that is very helpfull for my sleep trough all night. I do hope it will get better for you @Cece . To let things go that helps alot as well.
Thanks everyone! Honestly, could bea combination of all the above. @ashisalefty i never thought of the dehydration and then sugar thing with staying up when drinking. Also, my 19 yr old came home Tuesday until Sunday and I had a lot of anxiety about it. The feeling was is so intense. Like crabby x 500 lol. Anyway thanks everyone. Gonna work on it!
sounds very familiar. are you aware of Post Accute Withdrawal Syndrome?
good news is a lot of what you might be feeling is normal.
bad news is it doesn’t go away overnight
thank you for that info!
