@JasonFisher so true I have spent 5 years total trying to recover, went to a good rehab after 6 months using. Heard all about how to recover but had reservations, didn’t f’n listen.
In the end, these last 8 months, it’s been as easy as 1. Know I can’t use successfully ever again. 2. Accept and admit that I’m an addict. 3. Go to meetings. 4. Have a sponsor. 5. Post here every day.
But no I had to be closed-minded and fuck up relapsing for 5 years.
I relate 100%. I relapsed with a long time sober and had to stay out there trying to make drinking work for me way longer than I could have because I made coming back way harder than it is. Once I figured out that I’m my biggest obstacle its been easier to get out of my own way!
Yes I kept trying to use successfully despite the bloody awful evidence that it ruined my life!
