1976 VW bug. It was a very forgiving car and would let me start in 2nd. I still drive stick!

I don’t think I’ve ever thought about the first stick I drove. It’s funny how it just came to me. Still driving my 20 year old M3 stick. I keep thinking I’m getting to old for it. But I can’t give it up. Got it right where I want it.

I took my current (2006 Subaru Impreza) stick in for an oil change at a chain place and they asked me to drive it out of the pit because no one else could drive it. 
I really learned to drive stick when I had to drive a stick shift in Chicago. Chicago-ians are not patient if the car in front of them is not moving. Honking and yelling was a fantastic crash course in finding first gear for me.
