Mitsubishi Colt was my first car back in 1991 when I got my licence at 18. We used to learn to drive around age 15, no idea, what car my Dad had then. Pretty sure some Renault. BTW, in Austria most people drive stick, I learned to drive automatic in the US 
The older I grow the more I appreciate the comfort of automatic drive
