Fun fact time, though a bit off topic:
The “panhandle” of Oklahoma used to belong to Texas, and in 1850 when the Missouri compromise was made, slavery was outlawed south of the 38th parallel, so Texas didn’t recognize this area as part of its territory and surrendered claim to it. Kansas and Oklahoma territory borders had already been made, as well as New Mexico, so for a time this was a “no man’s land” where US laws didn’t apply. They did a bunch of naughty stuff there like build a city called “beer city” which was full of saloons and brothels and eventually Oklahoma was fed up with the lawlessness and the federal government was fed up with them not getting taxed, so it was annexed to Oklahoma territory in 1890
