I went with My Dear Aunt Sally (multiplication, division, addition and subtraction) so 5x5 = 25 and the +5 and -5 are moot.
Addition and subtraction (and multiplication and division, for that matter) are done left to right. So 5-25+5=-15

Argh, this has brought up a shame memory that I fear won’t go away until I get it out.
I had the same math teacher for 6th, 7th and 8th grade math and SHE (pay attention to the pronoun) used to tell me that girls couldn’t do math.
She also made me stand in the corner a lot if I got an answer wrong. Lots of shame there.
In my 20s I ran into her daughter at a bar and ended up drunkenly telling my old teacher who was then retired that she was the worst teacher I ever had over the phone. She wished me well.
