That pastry is called a Semla and is our Mardi Gras (Shrove Tuesday) sweet.
It’s a bun baked with cardamom, that you cut so you’ll get a little lid. Then you make a hole in the middle of the bun by taking out a little of the bread. Mix the crumbs with very sweet almond paste and a little whipped cream. Put it back in the bun,top it with more whipped cream, put the lid back and pour confectionary sugar over it all.
The older generation (like my grandparents) usually put them in a bowl added warm milk around it,sprinkled some cinnamon in the milk and ate it with a spoon. That’s called hot wedges. But it’s not so common nowdays.

My kids still do that. Minus the lightning bugs. We don’t have any in Sweden. We would love to see a real one.
