Today is the day. Its 5:30am, I’m already showered, coffeinated and almost ready to go. Couldn’t sleep since 3am, worrying if my boys won’t miss me too much. It’ll be ok. Fucking hell it must be ok, it’s just 6 days. But I worry. First time I will be separated from my chipmunks for so long. But also, that’s the point of all this trip. To rest. To take a break. I don’t like to use big words like burnout or depression, but I feel it crippling around me. I’m overwhelmed. I hope this little solo vacation will give me nice boost of vitality and happiness.
I’m planning to meet with my long time no see friends, I’m planning to go to the gym for a little workout and sauna every morning (there is one gym with sauna close to my aunt place where I will stay). Go places. Eat a lot of nice food. Sometimes do nothing. Just enjoy my time. And most important I want to do all this sober. And that might be tricky. As long as I won’t pick that first drink or whatever, I will be fine. I’m totally sure there won’t be any pressure from my friends, the battle will be only between me and me. That’s why I’m gonna keep you close and I will check-in here a lot, to stay focused.
I’m gonna drink one more coffee and slowly start waking up the rest, in 35min we have to leave.
This sounds very therapeutic and a great overal thing to do for yourself, for general wellbeing, for recovery, for many benifits. Im a little jealous . Hope you have a blast.
Have a wonderful trip home .. you and your boys will miss each other and y’all can be in touch as you wish.. hope the days are good ones for both you and them. One of these days you will take them with you.
Wishing you peace in your heart and with your sobriety. Look forward to seeing some of those delicious food you’re talking about eating. I have a good friend who is from your country and some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life has come from her cooking.
Sending you lots of hugs and caring wishes for a wonderful time.
Hope you have a lovely vacation. Take it nice and steady. Keep hydrated and pay attention to you H.A.L.T. I recently went on my first abroad holiday and was worried about doing it sober. I had nothing to worry about, it was the best holiday I’ve EVER had! I felt and saw and tasted it all, every moment. Lots of self care. I had a few different massages and treatments whilst away and it was fabulous! Just relax and put you first! I’m looking forward to following this post to see what you get up to and hopefully some pictures of delicious foods. Safe travels!
Sending love and positive vibes your way Mischa. You’ll have an amazing time and you deserve having a rest and some me time.
I’ve been following your posts for years now and I am so proud of you. You’re doing great with your boys and family and your sober journey is just stunning.
Be proud of yourself and keep us updated. Looking forward to read your stories from home.
You deserve a break to recharge your battery. Your chipmucks will welcome you back! For now, be present. I agree keep an eye on HALT. And checkin if you need backup!
Wishing you a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. Having time to nourish your self in body mind and spirit can be so healing. And the new experience of vacationing sober can feel different, because it is, and it is also freeing and lovely not spending vacation time hungover or feeling like crap. Remember your why and your strength. Enjoy!
Safe travel and happy vaccacion Mischa
Put aside your home life as good as possible and enjoy yourself, rest and do what you want.
very much looking forward to your food sharings
Have a great trip Mischa.
We definitely have your back. Like you. I had a pretty good amount of sober time in me before my first trip like that. But I wasn’t alone. And everyone was drinking. I was pretty surprised how easy it actually was and how much fun I had. I did lots of walks around London in the mornings and didn’t even wish I could go to a pub. Never thought I could do London without drinking my favourite beer. I checked in daily with coffee pics and foodie pics and gratitude and I had so much fun.
We got your back. You know that. Hopefully there will be pics to see on the traveling sober thread. Or did you not bring your photographer?
Have fun. Your trip sounds much deserved. I’m happy you’re getting to do it.
I am happy to hear that you are having this solo vacation for yourself. You deserve it! Hope you have a fabulous time connecting with friends and practicing self care. I am sure your boys will miss you and will be grateful to see their rested rejuvenated mommy in 6 days.
Glad you are checking in here and protecting your sobriety. That inner battle can be a bit much. You are strong my friend.
It’s not even 8pm and Im done.for today, I will hit the pillow soon. Sober. It’s a real luxury that I’m able to go to bed so early, I love it.
Today I went with my aunt (the one that I stay with now) to visit my other aunt. They are both my mother’s sisters and the one I stay with is mother of my cousin that died in May. Just so you have a picture. It was lovely. She has cutie little dog that is half size of my cat
Later I was to drained to socialise more (from short night and the flight) so I decided to go for a bike ride. I’m in Gdynia btw. Beautiful place, my hometown. I went to see the sea, to Mechelinki Cliff. It was only 17km all together but I’m not used to bike up and down the hills, we don’t have that in Netherlands
Hace a great trip Mischa! Geniet ervan! Your chipmunks will be just fine! I hope you have a great time, the pictures you’ve posted so far look really nice!
