My favorite film is Mississippi Burning. For all the reasons. It’s based on the murder of civil rights workers in the 60’s.

Also Body Heat. Love the music, the story, and William Hurt. RIP

If you liked Apocalypse Now you might like Ken Burns ā€œViet Namā€ documentary series. It’s excellent. 18 hours.

Blue Moon 2.5/5
Snappy dialogue, amusing. But quite one dimensional and frustrating that it didn’t move on faster or give more context.

Caught Stealing 4/5
Satisfying yarn. A little violent, a little unbelievable, but wholly enjoyable. And the cute cat deserves a whole point.

I’ve been gravitating toward older as well as international films lately.

This one was rather captivating. :eyes:

I just purchased 3 posters for my office - Raiders of the Lost Ark, King Kong (2005), and Harry Potter Sorcerer’s Stone. If I could have fit a fourth, Jurassic World.

I’m so excited! These aren’t necessarily my all time favorites, but they are within my bucket of favorites - and they remind me of a childhood sense of wonder and adventure.

Genuinely curious.

How many, if any have seen the NZ film

Once we’re warriors.

If so id love to hear some international thoughts on it. And if you decide to please be wary it deals with some very heavy topics.

Also what other nz cinema have you seen other than lord of the rings.

Theo Von’s new movie Bus Boys… tried to enjoy, found it to be exactly a 4/10… which isn’t quite bad enough to enjoy disliking and not good enough to just outright enjoy either… just my 2 cents. I really like his podcast and Spade being attached gave me some confidence. IMO skip it unless you’re good calling your ticket ā€œcontributing to the arts of stand upsā€

I liked it a lot. I’m wondering if The Bear got a lot of material from this movie.
I love restaurants and love London.
And Bradley Cooper :smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

An oldie. But a good one.

Pillion. 7.5/10
What a STRANGE, yet oddly ENJOYABLE, film about queer love/coming of age/BDSM. Set in Bromley, Kent, with a ridiculously good looking Skarsgard playing the co-lead. I won’t watch it again, but I did enjoy it.

The Conjuring: Last Rites. 7.5/10
Tied up the franchise with certain satisfaction, if not cheese. Remarkably based on true events and I do love me some supernatural horror

Batman returns. 1992. 4K.

Who doesn’t love Michael Keaton as Batman.

Added bonus of Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Been hunting out good visual and sound track movies to run in 4k this one definitely hits the spot.

Tim Burton got this film 100% right imo.

At 4K this is definitely 10/10
