I have a question, is anyone on Naltrexone or vivatrol? I am suppose to start it today, just wanted to get some feed back. Thanks in advance.

I was on Naltrexone for 2 weeks after I left rehab about 2 months ago. I did not notice any difference in urges/cravings, which I was told it would help with. I did some research on it and got mixed results. Some saying crave reduction was “minimal” and the doctor explained its use for people who want to reduce the amount of alcohol they consume when they do actually drink. Say someone likes to drink a 12 pack in a sitting. Naltrexone is supposed to help people reduce that to a lower amount of drinks one is usually compelled to drink. IDK, its all very strange. When it was gone, I did not miss it. Vivitrol I have no experience with.
Thank you, yes they told me it reduces the amount you drink. I haven’t drank in 48 days. However I did wake up and thought about drinking, saw ginger ale in the fridge and thought to bad no Jameson. 
I also woke up very groggy, and don’t like that feeling. I will give it until I follow up next week, she did say the dose can be upped. Kara
