Spot on. The Hobbit movies lacked any real depth, like LotR. They definitely were just trying to make a lot of money on it. Hated the CGI Orcs. LotR “real” orcs looked so much better. That’s what you get when you try to maximize profit by cutting expenses. I havent read The Hobbit in almost 30 years, but I swear they added an incredible amount of fluff to extend the movies.
I did enjoy them though. Smaug was awesome.
