Welcome to the forum Susie!! Glad ur here! Great 1st topic! How long have u been sober for?

I think, if I remember correctly… i started my recovery journey with REAL acceptance of my problem. Realizing that i had no control over my drug use and that this was a problem that i had to get help for, from a HP. Over the decades, I had tried quitting on my own, attended numerous treatment centres, one on one and group therapy, etc and what I came to realize over 4 years ago, was that my HP was truly the only one that could help me with my addictions. Dont get me wrong… all of the outside support helped me in staying clean. But I needed something greater than myself of my own understanding, to help me. Feb 13, 2022 is my clean date. Thats when i gave everything over to my HP

Hey welcome this is a great place, if moderation was possible I wouldn’t be here after 25 years of completely unsuccessfully trying it, people who moderate can also stop for a week or 2 without even thinking about it, is that something you can do? I couldn’t even make a day of moderating

Once you find honesty about your situation you can no longer lie to yourself about your problem. This is a fantastic way to start.

You keep putting yourself through the hardest days over and over again. I did that too. Keep trying, keep fighting. Put a sober head on your pillow tonight. I bet you’ve never regretted staying sober yesterday.

Hi @laura121!

The good news is that you have identified a pattern right? So that means you can have a plan ready to push through to Day 4. I truly believe making it to Day 4 would give you the motivation to do one MORE day. And then do it again.
For me that plan looked something like this: I would stay as far from any triggers as is possible.
I would do puzzles to take my mind off of the cravings. When I felt like I was going to jump out of my skin I would take a walk. I went to bed early. I talked to people that knew what I was trying to do. Did you know that most cravings last about 20 minutes? That’s a long time but it’s doable. When you wake up sober on Day 4 you celebrate because you are more than halfway to a week which is a huge milestone. Good luck :light_blue_heart:
