Welcome! I have found this app super helpful. I’ve been checking in on the chats on and off for over a year and I definitely noticed that the times I stop checking in here correlate to when I begin struggling again. So dive into some of the old threads and keep posting. Glad you’re here :slightly_smiling_face:

Welcome. 1 week is fantastic! Do you have a plan? Consider a recovery program to stay on the sober path.

I want to join AA or NA but I’m not sure what is a good option for me but I’m doing my research on both! Any feedback would be appreciated. I also have terrible social anxiety so groups terrify :fearful: me lol

One great thing is that there are a lot of meetings on zoom. And you don’t necessarily have to have your camera on or participate.
In one of my zooms they simply ask you to state your name (camera off) when it’s your first time at that meeting.
I am and alcoholic and an addict. I’ve done both aa and na. I have preferred AA over na. The meetings are similar but differ in ways as well. The format is usually the same but the readings and traditions are different.
It really just takes going to a few and feeling them out to decide for yourself what’s best for you.
Just try it out. And zoom you can be on for as long as you want. Some meetings are 1 hr and some 1 hr and a half. You can come and go as you please. And I’d say once you’re a bit more comfortable you could venture out to in person meetings. There are apps that have lists of all meetings and time and are specific to your area. As well as websites dedicated to the same. Both list in person and zoom.
Good luck. You can do this. And it’s worth it.

Welcome to the forum! Congratulations on ur week of sobriety! I have tried both NA, CA, and AA mtgs. I enjoy NA and AA the most. As mentioned, there are mtgs online. I do attend them occasionally thru the free Intherooms app. It might be a good place to start to get an idea of what meetings are like. However, in my opinion, they truly dont compare to in person mtgs. Theres something incredible that happens when u met people in ur area that u can go for coffees with after the mtg, or attend dry dances/functions, and to be able to have a sponsor that can take u thru the steps. I started with NA and prefer NA but AA is also very very good!
