No alky but hard

Have not been able to check in because internet access was gone for a while, It is hard to have a clear mind all the time for a person like me. I am not living… merely existing. I basically cannot stand myself and yet a person cannot get away from their own selves ever. How frightful. But, anyway, no alky.

That’s a win :slightly_smiling_face: One day at a time (or another way of looking at it: how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time :innocent:)

When I stopped drinking my sponsor said “it’s only for one day, you can have a drink tomorrow”.

I must admit it threw me at first, but the logic is: you don’t drink today, but you can have a drink tomorrow, but as it’s always today and never tomorrow, I’ve never got to take that drink.

It’s ODAAT, live for today and don’t drink, let tomorrow take of its self, you have no control of what’s going happen.

Stay strong, stay true to yourself & stay sober.

It really is a very simple concept.. I think one just has to stay mindful. Action before thought is something I believe most alcoholics were good at. I know I was. Stopping and thinking especially before I speak has been a lesson learned and I try to practice this all the time.

Proud of you for not drinking. I’m sorry you arent feeling comfortable in your skin right now. I think it’s normal to struggle with values, with anxiety, with depression, and with finding who’s really underneath it all after becoming sober. That doesnt make it easier to go through though.
