I’m so used to being drunk or hungover… sobriety is a new life for me. When I was drunk, I didn’t care much about anything, but now I do care… I care about a lot of things lol. It’s a challenge for me to experience sadness or anxiety and not have a drink. Drinking felt safe because I didn’t feel anything when I was drunk. Geeze, and now I feel everything and it’s mind blowing and scary. I look forward to my AA meetings because I feel safe there. I love reading everyone’s topics on here because I feel at home. I don’t think I would have gone this far without you guys and AA… I’m grateful for all of you 15 days today!
I hear that! Congrats on 15 days! I am on 13 and there are days that are incredibly raw. Today is one of them. Feeling things is so new and hard at times, but when the good things come around, it feels SO much more amazing than before. keep it up!
Congratulations there’s more coming your way. Sobriety can be a challenge but it also can be do amazing and I agree with the feeling of going to AA meetings. My first one was where I found home.
Congrats on 13! First week was rough right? It was super rough for me… it’s still not easy, but I feel ok. Some days are worse than others, but I’m not giving up. There are times when I feel like I need a drink, but I don’t cave. I don’t want to cave anymore… that’s why I started the meetings. Stay strong we can do it
Hello everyone and congrats… I fell off the wagon twice this year… Now I am sober for 145 hours doing my best to keep it that way… Good luck everyone!!

I’m currently in therapy and my therapist explained that rather than moving on and trying to mask any sort of feelings with alcohol weed cocaine cigarettes whatever it is for you - you should sit with the feelings as long as you can. write down your mood in short terms except breaths maybe do some jumping jacks or something to get your heart rate up like going for a walk. Then just let it float away since you experienced it send it away like an old friend
Thats the way to do it , good for you @kayTkat i liked the last part very much . Keep it up you are doing great
i can relate to this - i do enjoy the sober feeling hands down, in actual fact I LOVE IT!
Congrats on 15 days!! I know what you mean by not caring when hungover. Now that I’m sober I’m seeing that my feelings are popping through, I’m less confrontational about issues and I’m taking life and joy day by day. It’s amazing to see how sobriety gives you a more landscape view, open heart and vibrant energy. Good luck on your journey to happiness!!
I’m also less confrontational as well. I’m more level headed now a days. Let’s continue being great and sober
