I always look at the negative aspects like my health, how I’m affecting people around me, the cost, and the number of those who die from it every minute, day, year, one number is 700,000 people every year die from tobacco use. I turned it into something I hate and am disgusted by. When I’m around others who are smoking I simply walk away and find a place upwind. Educating myself on the harmful effects, studies and raw data don’t lie. It took me 20 years of smoking to realize it, 7 years tobacco free!
Munch on lots of raw veggies because when you quit you’ll be eating anything and everything to quell the temptation to smoke. You will save a lot of money in the long run.
I found Carr’s book in audiobook somewhere online. At the beginnig i kept listening and re-listening in the evenings, before falling asleep. I am at week 3 now!
Other important thing: read absolutely everything about nicotin addiction, and how withdrawal and craving affects your brain. There are also a bunch of very relatable youtube vids on this too- like “day 3 rage” and all the tough phases.
