This worked for me very well my first 2 weeks of sobriety. I am big into fitness and excercising, and alcohol was hindering that. Not only dehydration, but calories. So, for the first 2 weeks, I thought to myself “if I don’t drink, I can have a different treat instead” and I chose Ice cream, and it worked! Everytime I wanted to drink, I went and got Ice cream instead. By the time I was ate my large blizzard from dairy Queen, the urge was gone. Whether it be from getting my mind off it, or just getting full. In the long run, ice cream was better for me then alcohol, and those extra calories saved me for a longer hall. Of course as the cravings get less, I would eat less ice cream, but it worked for me. Just an idea
I did the same thing! It helped for sure. I treat myself to ice cream and candy instead, and I am losing weight now more easily. I run the treadmill during my lunch break, and then do an hour long fitness bootcamp at my gym after work. I used to spend the week taking off the weight I put on over the weekends, but now I am seeing new gains in my fitness and getting to a lower body weight that haven’t seen in years. I am 27 days sober and its done wonders for my health. Keep it up! Stay strong stay sober!
Excellent idea, thank you. I used to treat myself with a pretend beer. Worked for a month, then I relapsed.
I’m doing the same thing! My body is really craving the sugar and once it gets it, is quiets down. I’m allowing myself to eat things I wouldn’t otherwise, and I’m doing it guilt free.
