On Doberman puppy they trim the tail and cut ears and make them stand up surgically. Personally I never would want it done. Daughter got puppy planning to breed. We got Yunna by default. Normally purebreds get these procedure done to look prestige for breeding stand outs.
Oh, I am sorry to hear that happened and did not even know that was still legal in the US. It’s not something that I can condone at all, so I will remove my earlier message, thought her ears were upright because she was attentive 
Ps we had her spade. I just know she would have a shit load of puppies and would not be able to find them homes and I am sure I would have separation issues. They eat a lot and poop big! Maybe TMI
