I live here! But I do love being a tourist for the day.. Usually I’ve had enough though by lunchtime when the crowds get too much!

So many amazing places in our town. Have you ever been inside the Manchester Unity Building @apes2020 It looks so beautiful. I went to The State Library a few years back and was absolutely blown away.

Crossing the Columbia River bar. It got really big and I had to get off the deck and get everything tied down inside.

Just before it got too big.

Tennyson’s poem about crossing the bar has been set to music many times. This is a nice tight version of it.

Alfred Tennyson, Crossing the Bar, 1889

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho’ from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
