PMO - Porn, Masturbation, Recovery

Alright day 17, officially beat the last streak of 16. I’ve had some month or two streaks in the last year but I think the strategy I have now is going to go the distance.

Thats awesome, you’ve got this. I find with PMO addiction that you have to stay super vigilant all the time. It chips away at you in ways you dont see coming. I recently had a streak of 32 days, I was super laser focused. I got complacent and it really did not take long to break. I’ve since implemented various protocols:

Break glass- a pdf with a set of instructions of what to do in a crisis/ potential relapse.

Reasons- thoughts that i wrote just after a relapse so that I never forget how it felt and why im in recovery.

Golden Rules- clearly sets out non negotiable rules that if broken will count as a relapse. It means I cant bend the rules and be sneaky.

I agree, I have a 3 ring binder folder full of things to keep me incessantly on track . My daily to do’s, my thoughts about what works and doesn’t, what my goals are and what I’m running from, and boxes to check if I did my daily’s. I truly, truly believe it’s the only way. And if you even play with the idea of pmo for half an hour you could easily lose it all. It only takes one fantasy you never thought of before, fear of missing out, and you’re back where you started not knowing what the hell hit you.

This book and the book before it are the main ones I return to to remember what I’m doing and what I’m about.

@Buntz and @Clearhorizon thank you both for this. Helpful reminders after my latest relapse.

I’very not been in a good place mentally, had to reset everything today…

I’m trusting God for the strength to face certain things I’ve been disturbed and stressed by, there’s a number of issues.

But I know my perception of my situation is much worse than the situations themself..

I needed to get out of my head.

The discordance between reality and how you feel is a little unreal at times. I’ve certainly felt it a lot since my crisis kicked everything off. It’s crazy how hard it is to just get your brain back in gear. I have faith you’ll get back in the game though!

On another note, just found this thread, so posting to join in on the discussion.
