PMO - Porn, Masturbation, Recovery

Hopping on this thread because I have learned that my struggle with alcohol also contributes to my use of this drug. They compound each other when I’m drunk and really do a number on my emotions the next day. I find in sobriety I have a much better handle on this aspect of addiction but I will be working on both simultaneously as they contribute to each other in my journey.

Great work @Buntz ! It is amazing to see you learning from your experience, taking it as a new way you can be better. You got this.

For everyone out there, something that worked really well for me was identifying the times I am most likely to be at risk. Working late, being sleep deprived, work trips. All of them were and still are risky for me, so avoid them where possible, and where I can’t I plan for it and check in with those around me. Don’t get beaten by what you know.

Hello everyone, I am new here, today is day 0, I have been doing this since I was 15, I am now 26, I believe the PMO addiction have caused me a lot of trouble in my life and that it is robbing my life away, by robbing the boring moments and even making the fun moments dull by the changes it made in my brain.

I have had multiple streaks and multiple relapses and I have watched countless videos on how to stop and quit, I have failed, however I refuse to stop and accept the fact and to continue fighting, my longest streak was 86 days when I was reading the count of monte Cristo, great book for anyone interested, my goal every time is to quit forever, and I hope to achieve that this time to enjoy the rest of my life, I hope you wish me luck on my journey, and I ask of all of you not to give up no matter how many times you have relapsed.

I’m glad you’re fighting this now. I’m 63 and only recently (smh) discovered how horrible this addiction is. Im 280 plus days clean. Do some research on the neuroplasticity of the brain and how it can rewire the reward center. Even in an old brain like mine. (I also turned to Christ. Just a suggestion :latin_cross:)

You have a young mind and time on your side. You can do this.

Day 4 for MO

Almost day 2 for P

What are good hobbies/habits to replace Pmo with?

I feel like if i get an engaging enough hobby i can abstain better.

Also is it true that you need to work on your sobriety each day to recover? Or can you work on it a bunch initially and then just focus on your good hobbies and then you don’t have to think about the addiction much?
