They are right there - i could easily go round to the shop and just buy a 4 pack but im not going too … DAY3 ALMOST DONE! Thoughts creeping in again, just wait till New Year then stop, wait till uv passed your driving test then stop, … ARRGGHHHH! Instead of going to shop im venting on here. Why do i keep thinking of the future? Really no more alcohol your only 31!
Half a hour later the temptation has passed Phew! … Ice cold Fanta helped! … x
Well done on coming here instead of picking up. I love ice cold lemonade when I need to scratch the itch lol.
Cravings sound really hard. I would not want to keep battling those. I know for me once I went to AA, and immersed myself in the program I no longer had cravings. I know I can never beat alcohol in a fight so I’d rather not fight at all.
I think its just the time of night - boiling the kettle & making a cuppa & gonna do my daily journal & take the edge off! God this is hard but im determined 1 day at a time!!
Evenings are tough, especially when that’s when you started drinking. That internal alarm goes off and it’s straight to struggle town.
Playing the tape through helped me. Imaging what the night would be like if I drank, how the morning would feel - that was usually enough to dissuade me.
I then worked on changing my relationship with alcohol and that made the cravings go away. You can read about my process by clicking here.
With each craving you get through, you get stronger and they become weaker, but if you drink, you will be right back where you were, don’t let that happen!!
Good job👍
Thank you so much for your comment - some great advice there ill defo be looking into Youtube its something ive never thought about.
I found the first week to be very difficult, after that it has become progressively easier, not to say that it gets ‘easy’. To say you’re doing really well is an understatement, those first days are hell!
