I once met Elliot Smith, and it almost got me fired.
I working at local radio station in Seattle at the time, the station would put on these small, intimate concerts at a local recording studio. I was scheduled to work the Elliot Smith gig, I showed up early and got everything set up ahead of schedule. I had some down time, so my and my collegues meandered around and found ourselves in this room with a pool table, kitchen, couch, TV etc. We just hung out there, killed some time when in walks Elliot Smith (with my boss) - it was his green room!
It was quite embarrassing for us, my boss and the station manager. Since I was the senior member of the team, I took the heat. My boss spared my job, but as soon as he left the company a couple months later, I was fired.
Later, after the event, I formally met E.S. I apologized for intruding on his space, he said it was no big deal. Regardless, I still felt bad.
Long before he became famous (when he was still in Heatmiser), he hung out at this dive bar that a lot of people frequented, here in Portland, called My Father’s Place. I mean, he was “just a regular dude,” then (who was incredibly talented).
He was friends with friends of mine (who were also casualties of addiction) so I’d also see him at parties & shows. I was acquainted but didn’t know him know him. He was always nice.
I was fortunate enough to have seen Heatmiser multiple times and to have been at Umbra Penumbra, here, for Elliott’s 1st solo show.
I still listen to his music almost everyday.
Yes it’s a real brand

Hey witches have to do dishes too.
Household chores are in their DNA why do you think they fly on a broom?
One thing for sure repairs on your car won’t be as expensive as the other.
People pay more for old American classic cars here than they do for their house.
We live in what’s called Greasers county. Along a road that’s called the Retro Road. Most things here is 50-60s themed and those things who ain’t is cowboy or American related.
A lot of times you’ll see some kind of crossover. Greasers with cowboy boots for example. (And yes I mean greaser like in the movie Grease)
That’s so cool! Didn’t realize that scene was big in Sweden. Here in the States they’re called “Rockabilly’s”.
