Sending you so much love. It’s a heartbreak that just has no equal. Our furry family make space in our hearts and when they have to leave that space remains. One thing that helped us when our dog died was to start a little journal where we wrote memories down. Little notes where we remembered things like how soft his ears were (the softest!) and how when he got excited he would bounce and his tail would wiggle. It really brought us some solace to write them down and read them to each other and laugh about the silly things, cry because we missed him, and have the book physically present along with his collar in a special spot.
We hurt so much when we lose our furry friends because we love so deeply - their love is special because it’s unconditional. Be kind to yourself in your time of grief.

Lupe likes to accompany me on my morning garden inspection. As soon as the hose comes out for watering she runs away…I’ve been a bad mom and shot her with the hose a couple few times…oops! Her brother used to love it!

God bless you Brian and Penny. What you’re doing is the most loving and caring thing ever, but I know from experience, also the hardest. Im so sorry for what you’re going through. I believe in heaven and I also believe they will be there waiting for us. Sending hugs and prayers in this most difficult day.

Brian you did the right thing, Penny had a lovely last day instead of going through a slow painfull passing.
You have good memories of her, and she is no longer in pain.
I’m glad you have people with you and your right a whiskey wont do anything except make you feel more sad.
